Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Rochdale play host to Tranmere at their Spotland Stadium in what is expected to be a close League Two encounter. The Dale suffered a heart-breaking 3-0 loss to Bradford City, with the team remaining in the rock-bottom position. Since Jim McNulty’s troops are eight points behind the safe zone, this has to go down as a must-win game for the home team. January signing Tyrese Sinclair is widely expected to return to the starting XI.
The Superwhites, on the other hand, aim to recover from a 2-1 loss to Crawley, but seeing that they head into the season finale with the lack of motivation, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the rock-bottom side. There are no fresh injury worries in the away team, but talented midfielder Jay Turner-Cooke should sneak into the starting XI. In their last meeting at the venue Rochdale defeated Tranmere thanks to Danny Cashman’s goal.
Highlighted Player (Liam Kelly):
Born in Newport Pagnell, England Liam Kelly is a right-footed midfielder who plays for Coventry City in the League One. Kelly is a product of Milton Keynes Dons football school, but he did not play for the club at senior level. The English footballer started his senior career at Scottish club Kilmarnock, but after making 100 appearances in the league for the Killie, he moved to England, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal with Bristol City.
The English footballer played for the likes of Oldaham Athletic and Leyton Orient as well before joining Coventry City in the summer of 2017. His main position is central midfielder, but he is capable of playing as both defensive and right midfielder as well.
His preferred foot is right. He made his league debut with Coventry City on August 5, 2017 in a 3-0 win over Notts County, while scoring his first goal for the club in a 3-1 win over Stevenage in April, 2018.
Highlighted Team (Tranmere):
Based in Birkenhead, Merseyside, Tranmere Rovers are a professional club that compete in the League One. Tranmere were founded back in 1884 under the name of Belmont FC, with the football arms of cricket clubs Lyndhurst Wanderers and Belmont coming together. The club recorded their first win later in 1884 as they outclassed Brunswick Rovers 4-0.
Nowadays Tranmere Rovers play their home games at Prenton Park, the venue which can hold up to 15,567 people. The Rovers wear white shirts and blue shorts in home matches, but back in the 19th century orange and red were the dominating colours on their kit.
Tranmere fans see Bolton Wanderers as the club’s main rivals, but they have built a small rivalry with Chester City and Everton as well. The Prenton Park outfit did well to make it to the League Cup final in the 1993/1994 season, but Aston Villa proved to be a big catch for them in the title game.
