Our prediction for this Champions League match:
Real Madrid and Manchester City face each other in the replay of the last season’s Champions League semis. Los Blancos failed to defend their La Liga title, but they did well to beat Osasuna in the Copa del Rey final at the weekend. Luka Modric is pushing for a start after coming as a substitute against los Rojillos, while towering centre-back Eder Militao serves a one-game ban. Dani Ceballos misses out with a muscle injury.
The Citizens, on the other hand, continue relying on Norway ace Erling Haaland, who has been scoring goals for fun this season. Given Man City’s attacking potential, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. Nathan Ake is a major doubt and he will be assessed ahead of the kick-off, while Pep Guardiola has no other injury worries ahead of the trip to Madrid. Bernardo Silva should be recalled to the starting XI.
Highlighted Player (Karim Benzema):
Striker Karim Benzema came through his youth club Bron Terraillon in Olympique Lyon were he went through all the youth teams.
On January 15, 2005 Benzema made his debut for the first team of Lyon that season but did not have much playing time. In the 2007-2008 season he was indeed a permanent fixture in the team and he got his break . He grew that season right into a crowd favorite and clubs like Arsenal, Juventus, Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan showed interest in him.
Benzema in 2008 (like 2005, 2006, and 2007) was in the champions with Olympique Lyon and had no interest in leaving France. In 2008, Karim was named best French footballer.
Highlighted Team (Man City):
Manchester City are the lest famous of the two major clubs based in Manchester. The club was founded in 1880, but they have been struggling in the English Premier League in the past. Nonetheless, ever since the club was purchased by Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, the Citizens have been playing an important role in the English top flight.
Manchester City won two Premier League trophies under Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini (2011/2012 and 2013/2014), but both managers eventually paid the price for some disappointing results. Man City play their home games at the Etihad Stadium and the stadium capacity is 55,097.
Manchester United are regarded as Manchester City’s biggest rivals and the likes of Kun Aguero, Carlos Tevez, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Uwe Rosler, Yaya Toure, Sylvain Distin are some of the most remarkable players that played for the Etihad Stadium outfit. Manchester City have won four Premier League titles and five FA Cup trophies and it has to be noted that they made it to the Champions League semis in the 2015/2016 season.
