Our prediction for this MLS match:
New York City and Philadelphia Union square off against each other at Yankee Stadium in what is expected to be one of the most interesting games of Sunday’s program. The Blue Pigeons kicked off the new MLS season in style, but they do not seem to be at the top of their game ahead of the visit of Phila. Matias Pellegrini limped off with injury in a 1-1 draw with Orlando City, with Talles Magno likely to step up. There are no other selection worries in the home team.
The U’s, on the other hand, aim to build on a 3-0 win over New England Revolution. Philadelphia have been producing fine performances of late, but beating New York City on the road is easier said than done. Taking everything into account, we believe that both sides should be happy with one point from the match. New York City defenders should have Daniel Gazdag at bay as the Hungary international scored a brace in a 3-0 win over New England Revolution, while there are no fresh injury worries in the away team.
Highlighted Player (Alfredo Morales):
Alfredo Morales is an American football player who was born in Berlin on 12 May, 1990. The USA midfielder moved to Germany as a boy and he played for the likes of BSC Reinickendorf 21, Borussia Pankow, FC Concordia Wilhelmsruh and Hertha BSC during his youth career.
Morales played 81 games for Hertha II at senior level, scoring 11 league goals for the capital club. He made 20 appearances for the first team as well, but in 2013 he joined Ingolstadt on a two-year deal. Alfredo Morales was eligible to play for both Germany and USA, but he decided to represent the Yanks on the international level.
The 183-cm-tall midfielder made his USA debut on 29 January, 2013 against Canada. He came as a substitute 15 minutes before the final whistle. It has to be noted that Morales represented United States of America at the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. His main position is central midfield, but he is capable of playing as both centre back and a defensive midfielder.
Highlighted Team (Philadelphia Union):
Based in Chester, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Union is an American soccer club that compete in Major League Soccer. The U have been participating in MLS since 2010, but they have yet to win the domestic trophy. Philadelphia welcome their opponents at Talen Energy Stadium, the venue that was opened on June 27, 2010 and current capacity of the stadium is 18.500.
The U made it to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final on two occasions (2014, 2015), but they were beaten by Seattle Sounders and Sporting Kansas City respectively in the title games. The likes of D.C. United and New York Red Bulls are regarded as the club’s fiercest rivals, but they share a rivalry with Seattle Sounders as well.
Philadelphia’s colors are navy blue and gold, but they wear white shirts and white socks when playing on the road. USA international Freddy Adu is one of the most notable footballers who player for the U in the past. The former Benfica man scored seven goals in 37 appearances for Philadelphia Union in MLS.
