Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Tranmere will be aiming to put an end to their dreadful losing run in the League Two when they take on Accrington on Matchday 9. The Super Whites have been playing below expectations in the new League Two campaign, with the team sitting in the relegation zone and, no doubt, they are desperate to get back on course. A man to keep an eye on in the home team will be Charlie Jolley, who scored his second goal of the season in a 3-2 loss to Crawley Town at the weekend.
The Accy Stanley, on the other hand, rolled over Sutton 4-1 in their last league match, with the team moving closer to the playoffs places. Accrington, though, have already suffered two defeats on the road this season and we do not believe that they are capable of grabbing more than one point from Saturday’s encounter. As for the away team, all eyes will be on midfielder Tommy Leigh, who scored a brace in the last league fixture.
Highlighted Team (Tranmere):
Based in Birkenhead, Merseyside, Tranmere Rovers are a professional club that compete in the League One. Tranmere were founded back in 1884 under the name of Belmont FC, with the football arms of cricket clubs Lyndhurst Wanderers and Belmont coming together. The club recorded their first win later in 1884 as they outclassed Brunswick Rovers 4-0.
Nowadays Tranmere Rovers play their home games at Prenton Park, the venue which can hold up to 15,567 people. The Rovers wear white shirts and blue shorts in home matches, but back in the 19th century orange and red were the dominating colours on their kit.
Tranmere fans see Bolton Wanderers as the club’s main rivals, but they have built a small rivalry with Chester City and Everton as well. The Prenton Park outfit did well to make it to the League Cup final in the 1993/1994 season, but Aston Villa proved to be a big catch for them in the title game.
