Our prediction for this League 2 match:
AFC Wimbledon will be aiming to build on a 3-1 win over Walsall when they take on Tranmere in a highly-anticipated League Two game. The Dons have regained a much-needed confidence, with the team moving closer to the playoffs berth and a triumph over Tranmere should see them climb to top seven. Barring any fresh injury worries, Johnnie Jackson is unlikely to make changes to the team that defeated the Saddlers at the weekend.
Meanwhile, the Super Whites desperately needed a win against Accrington and they managed to get one, with the team putting an end to their seven-game losing run in all competitions. Tranmere, though, are not regarded as good travellers and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling AFC Wimbledon’s party at the Cherry Red Records Stadium. A man to watch in the away team will be Josh Hawkes, who scored a brace in the last league match.
Highlighted Player (Nikola Tzanev):
Nikola Tzanev is a New Zealand goalkeeper who started his youth career at Crystal Palace. Tzanev then moved to Brentford and he continued wearing the red and white shirt at senior level. After ending his loan spell with Lewes, the 195-cm-tall shoot-stopper moved to AFC Wimbledon in 2017.
During the 2018/2019 campaign he played for Potters Bar Town as a loan player, but at the end of the season he returned to AFC Wimbledon. He made his League One debut with the Dons on August 3, 2019 in a 2-1 loss to Rotherham United. Speaking of his international career, Nik Tzanev made his New Zealand debut in a 1-0 win over Chinese Taipei on June 5, 2018.
The Dons goalkeeper has 3 caps for the New Zealand U20 team as well. Nikola Tzanev was born in Wellington on December 23, 1996 and his preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Tranmere):
Based in Birkenhead, Merseyside, Tranmere Rovers are a professional club that compete in the League One. Tranmere were founded back in 1884 under the name of Belmont FC, with the football arms of cricket clubs Lyndhurst Wanderers and Belmont coming together. The club recorded their first win later in 1884 as they outclassed Brunswick Rovers 4-0.
Nowadays Tranmere Rovers play their home games at Prenton Park, the venue which can hold up to 15,567 people. The Rovers wear white shirts and blue shorts in home matches, but back in the 19th century orange and red were the dominating colours on their kit.
Tranmere fans see Bolton Wanderers as the club’s main rivals, but they have built a small rivalry with Chester City and Everton as well. The Prenton Park outfit did well to make it to the League Cup final in the 1993/1994 season, but Aston Villa proved to be a big catch for them in the title game.
