Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
Feyenoord will try to recover from a heart-breaking 2-1 loss to Twente when they face RKC Waalwijk on Sunday afternoon. The Rotterdammers are now seven points behind league leaders PSV in the Eredivisie table, meaning that this match is of big importance for the reigning champions. Summer signing Luka Ivanusec is pushing for a start as well as Iran winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh, whereas both Yankuba Minteh and Gernot Trauner continue to miss out with injuries.
RKC, meanwhile, have been having their ups and downs of late, with the team beating both Twente and Volendam, while losing to Almere City and Sparta Rotterdam. In their last meeting at the venue Feyenoord defeated Waalwijk thanks to Danilo’s goal and we predict that history is going to repeat itself. The hosts will have a full squad at disposal except for goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen, who has yet to overcome a head injury.
Highlighted Player (Alireza Jahanbakhsh):
Born in Jirandeh, Iran on August 11 1990, Alireza Jahanbakhsh is a footballer who plays for AZ Alkmaar in Holland. Before AZ, Jahanbakhsh played for NEC in the Eredivisie, but he began his youth career at Payam Alborz Qazvin. Speaking of his senior debut, he made it with Damash Tehran in the 2010/2011 season.
In 2011 he moved to fellow Iranian club Damash Gilan and it has to be noted that he scored 10 goals in 44 appearances in the league for the club. The AZ Alkmaar winger, who is used as an attacking midfielder as well, scored 21 goals in 33 appearances in the Eredivisie in the 2017/2018 season. Speaking of his international career, Alireza JahanBakhsh scored two goals for Iran on the road to Russia and he will represent his homeland at the 2018 FIFA world cup finals.
Due to his style of play, Jahanbakhsh has always been compared to legendary Iranian footballer Mehdi Mahdavikia.
Highlighted Team (Waalwijk):
RKC Waalwijk is a Dutch club that competes in the Eredivisie. RKC returned to the Dutch top flight in the 2019/20 season, and they were more than fortunate not to suffer relegation back to Eerste Divisie. Fred Grim’s men were stuck at the bottom of the table when the season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
As a result, they did not drop to the Dutch second tier. RKC play home games at Mandemakers Stadion, the venue which can hold only 7,500 spectators. RKC Waalwijk are well known for their yellow shirts with blue strips, but their away kit is mainly black. The Mandemakers Stadion outfit have never won the national championship.
RKC, though, represented the Netherlands in European competitions in the past, with team taking part in Intertoto Cup on four occasions. Willem II are seen as one of the club’s main rivals, with the two teams facing each other in the Brabantse derby.
