Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
Johan Cruijff Arena will host a postponed Eredivisie game between Ajax and Volendam, the two teams who sit in the relegation zone. Volendam are expected to fight hard for the survival, but the Dutch powerhouse surprisingly struggle in the new domestic campaign, with the team collecting only five points in the process. The Amsterdammers are desperate to recover from a heavy 5-2 loss to PSV and it seems as if they will not have a better chance than this to get back on course.
All Geronimo Rulli, Jay Gorter, Siver Mannsverk, and Devyne Rensch continue to miss out with injuries, whilst talented midfielder Silvano Vos is pushing for a start. The visitors, on the other hand, have suffered a loss in each of their four away games this season, which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on the struggling Eredivisie giants. There are no fresh injury worries in the away team.
Highlighted Player (Steven Bergwijn):
Steven Bergwin is a product of ASC Waterwijk football school, but in 2009 he was spotted by Ajax scouts. In 2011 he moved to PSG and he continued playing for the club’s reserve team at senior level. He made his debut with the senior team on May 20, 2015 in a 2-0 win over Heracles.
Over the years the Dutch footballer born in Amsterdam on October 8, 1997, has established himself as a first-team regular at PSV, earning a call-up for the national team as well. Steven Bergwijn made his Netherlands debut on October 12, 2018 in a 3-0 win over Germany. His main position is left winger, but he is used as both right winger and centre-forward as well.
His preferred foot is right and it has to be noted that his parents are of Suriname descent, he has a dual citizenship. Bergwijn scored 14 goals in 33 appearances for PSV in the 2018/2019 Eredivisie season.
Highlighted Team (Ajax):
Ajax is a Dutch football club that was founded on 18 March, 1900. Ajax are well known for their youth academy, which regarded as one of the best youth football schools in the world. The likes of Johan Cruijff, Edwin van der Sar, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Kluivert, Rafael van der Vaart and Marco van Basten are all products of Ajax’s football academy. The Amsterdammers share a big rivalry with Feyenoord and there have always been fireworks when the two teams face each other in De Klassieker.
During the seventies Feyenoord and Ajax were the only two teams who were capable of winning the domestic trophies, while PSV have been playing an important role in Dutch football in the 21st century. PSV and Ajax are regarded as big rivals as well and the two teams square off against each other in De Topper. Ajax play their home games at Amsterdam ArenA, the stadium that was opened on 14 August, 1996. The Amsterdammers won their fourth European Cup (Champions League) trophy in 1995, beating Milan in the title game in Vienna.
