Our prediction for this Championship match:
Stadium of Light will host Saturday’s matinee between Sunderland and Birmingham City, the two teams who sit in the opposite halves of the table. The Black Cats aim to retain their spot in top six and we are positive that they will adopt an attack-minded approach against Birmingham. Fit-again midfielder Alex Pritchard is pushing for his first start since October 21, 2023, while all Timothee Pembele, Jay Matete, Aji Alese, and Ross Stewart should miss out with injuries.
The Blues, on the other hand, do not seem to be at the top of their game, with the team collecting only one point in total from the last four league matches. Birmingham City are not regarded as good travellers and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Sunderland’s party at Stadium of Light. In their last meeting at the venue the Black Cats defeated the Blues 2-1. The visitors will be without Alfie Chang, Lee Buchanan, Keshi Anderson, George Hall, and Tyler Roberts in Saturday’s clash.
Highlighted Player (Bradley Dack):
Born in Greenwich, England on December 31, 1993, Bradley Dack is a midfielder who plays for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship. Bradley Dack began his youth career at Charlton Athletic back in 2005 and five years later he moved to Corinthian. However, the English footballer started his senior career at Gillingham, making his league debut against Bradford City on August 18, 2012. 20 days later he scored his first senior goal as he found the net in Football League trophy clash against Crawley Town.
Before joining Blackburn Rovers on June 27, 2017 Bradley Dack played four games on loan for Braintree Town, scoring one goal in those league games. His main position is attacking midfielder, but he is used as both right and left midfielder as well. Dack once described himself as “free role behind two strikers”.
The Blackburn Rovers midfielder often finds the net and it has to be noted that he scored 16 goals in 36 appearances for the Riversiders in the 2017/2018 League One campaign.
Highlighted Team (Birmingham City):
Birmingham City are a club located in the city of Birmingham, England. Birmingham City were founded in 1875 as Small Heath Alliance, but the club’s named was changed to Small Heath in 1888. 17 years later they became Birmingham and in 1943 they finally changed their name to Birmingham City.
The Blues welcome their rivals at St. Andrew’s, the stadium that was opened in 1906. Birmingham City compete in the Championship and their fiercest rivals are WBA and Aston Villa. The Blues made it to the FA Cup final twice, but they have yet to win the prestigious trophy. In 1931 they were beaten by their local rivals WBA in the title game (1-2), whilst in 1956 they were outplayed by Manchester City in the title game.
The colour of Birmingham’s home kit is blue with white stripe. Trevor Francis, Gil Merrick, Bob Latchford, Jeff Hall, Alex Govan, Joe Bradford and Christophe Dugarry are notable footballers who played for the St. Andrew’s outfit in the past.
