Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
High-flying PSV will be aiming to build on a 2-1 win over Feyenoord when they take on Heerenveen on Matchday 15. The league leaders are eager to keep their 100% record in the 2023/2024 Eredivisie campaign and they are likely to adopt yet another attack-minded approach in Thursday’s clash. Defender Jordan Teze is a major doubt after limping off with injury in the last league match, while both Noa Lang and Hirving Lozano remain in the recovery room.
The visitors, on the other hand, are on a three-game winning run, but it has to be noted that they faced an easy fixture list, beating the likes of Vitesse, Fortuna Sittard, and Almere City. PSV are having a season to remember and, taking everything into account, we do not believe that the visitors are capable of grabbing something from the match. As for the away team, Pawel Bochniewicz misses out with a back injury, while goalkeeper Jan Bekkema is a major doubt.
Highlighted Player (Luuk de Jong):
The 26-year-old Dutch striker Luuk de Jong is considered one of Europe’s deadliest strikers with his incredible return of goals in games he spends playing. Luuk de Jong began his football career at De Graafschap in 2008, but moved on to Twente only a year later.
The tally of 39 goals in 76 league appearances earned him a transfer to Borussia Monchengladbach, but his spell in Germany ended in disappointment. Bundesliga club attempted to revive his career by sending him out on loan to Newcastle United but his stint with the English club yielded even more disappointment and concluded in utter disaster with De Jong playing 12 games without scoring a single goal for the Magpies.
A return to Netherlands and PSV Eindhoven turned out to be a proper hit for the 26-year-old striker who has restored his scoring touch with more than 50 goals for the Boeren after less than 90 games.
Highlighted Team (Heerenveen):
Heerenveen is a Dutch football club that is well known for their white shirts with blue stripes. De Superfriezen (The Super Frisians) play home matches at Abe Lenstra Stadium, which has the capacity of 26,400 people.
Heerenveen have yet to win the Eredivisie title, but they impressed in the 1999/00 season, with the team finishing the process in second position in the standings. Thanks to a top-two finish, the club booked their place in the Champions League. Heerenveen, though, recorded only one in the group stages of the elite competition as they defeated Olympiakos 1-0 at home ground. De Superfizien retain a fierce rivals with Cambuur, and there have always been fireworks in clashes between the two teams.
It has to be noted that Heerenveen won the Dutch Cup in the 2008/09 season, with the team beating Twente on penalties in the title game. New Chelsea signing Hakim Ziyech played for Heerenveen at the start of his senior career.
