All eyes will be on Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium when Olympiacos and Ferencvaros lock horns in the Conference League last 32, first leg. The Thrylos quickly bounced back from a heart-breaking loss to their bitter rivals Panathinaikos, with the team rolling over OFI Crete 4-0 at the weekend. New signings Jovane Cabral and Ruben Vezo are widely expected to make their Conference League debuts against Ferencvaros as well as new boss Jose Luis Mendilibar.
The Green-Whites, on the other hand, are on a four-game winning run in the Hungarian top flight, which is surely fuelling fans with optimism ahead of the trip to Piraeus. Anyhow, both teams to score betting option should be considered as both sides have improved offensively. Ferencvaros defender Cristian Ramirez has overcome his injury, but talented forward Adam Halmai remains on the sidelines with injury. USA defender Henry Wingo is back to contention as well.
Highlighted Player (Kostas Fortounis):
Born in Trikala Greece on 16 October, 1992, Kostas Fortounis made his senior debut for his hometown club Trikala in the 2009/2010 Gamma Ethniki campaign. After playing 13 games for the club he moved to Asteras Tripolis at the end of the season.
In 2011 the Greek midfielder moved to Germany, signing a deal with Kaiserslautern. Fortounis made 70 league appearances for Kaiser, scoring two goals from 2011 to 2014. On 22 July, 2014 he returned to Greece, signing a four-year contract with Olympiacos. It has to be noted that he played for the Thrylos during his youth career (2003-2008).
Kostas Fortounis made his Greece debut against Belgium in February, 2012 and he represented his homeland at the 2012 European Championship finals. However, he was left out of the Greece 2014 FIFA World Cup squad. His main position is attacking midfielder, but he is capable of playing as a winger as well. Fortounis won two Greek Superleague titles (2014/2015, 2015/2016) with Olympiakos.

Established back in 1899, Ferencvaros are the most successful Hungarian club. The Zold Sasok clinched their 30th domestic trophy in the 2018/2019 season, but they eventually failed to book their place in the Champions League. Dinamo Zagreb proved to be a big catch for Ferencvaros in the Champions League play-offs, but the Green Eagles booked their spot in the Europa League group stages for the first time ever the same season.
Ferencvaros are well known for their green and white home kit, but they wear white shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels. Ujpest are considered the club’s fiercest rivals, whilst Ferencvaros and MTK Budapest face each other in the Eternal derby.
Honved are seen as the club’s bitter rivals as well. Back in 1975 the Zold Sasok made it to the UEFA Cup Winner’s Cup, with the team losing to Ukrainian club Dynamo Kiev in the title game. Sandor Kocsis, who scored 75 goals in 68 appearances for the Hungarian national team, is the club’s most notable footballer.
