Saturday’s football game at the Wham Stadium pits together Accrington Town and Bradford City, the two teams who are almost level on points in the League Two standings. The Accy Stanley suffered a dip in form, with the team losing each of their last three league matches and, no doubt, they are desperate to give fans something to cheer about. To make things even worse for the home side, defender Lewis Shipley is banned for the match.

Founded back in 1891 and reformed in 1968, Accrington Stanley are an English football club that compete in the League One. The original team competed in the Football League from 1921 to 1962, spending the last four seasons in Lancashire Combination.
The Accy are well known for their red home kit, whilst they wear sky blue shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels. The League One side play their home games at Crown Ground, the stadium which can hold up to 5,450 spectators (3,100 seated). Accrington have been playing at Crown Ground since 1970.
Listed as the all-time favourite player amongst fans, Chris Grimshaw is one of the most famous Accrington Stanley footballers. However, George Stewart is the team’s top scorer, netting 136 goals in total from 1954 to 1958. It has to be noted that the Accy have yet to represent England in European competitions.
