Our prediction for this MLS match:
There will be fireworks when CF Montreal and Toronto FC lock horns in the Canadian derby on Sunday morning. Montreal are undefeated in the previous three league fixtures and the fact that they defeated Atlanta United in their last home is surely fuelling fans with optimism. A man to watch in the home team will be Josef Martinez, who scored a brace in the last league match, while both Lassi Lappalainen and Logan Ketterer remain in the treatment room.
The Reds, on the other hand, aim to recover from a 3-1 loss to Inter Miami. As both Toronto and Montreal will go for a win in the Canadian derby, we are tempted to place our bets on both teams to score. The likes of Coello Camarero, Tyrese Spicer, and Brandon Servania miss out with injuries for the visiting team. In their last meeting in the MLS Toronto FC crushed CF Montreal 5-1.
Highlighted Player (Victor Wanyama):
Over the years Victory Wanyama has established himself as one of the best Kenyan footballers. Wanyama started his senior career at Belgian club Beerschot and after scoring 2 goals in 51 appearances in the league for de Ratten, he moved to Celtic in 2011.
The defensive midfielder, who is very strong in the tackle, decided to leave the Hoops in 2013, signing a deal with Premier League side Southampton for a fee of £12.5 million.During his spell at St. Mary’s Stadium Victory Wanyama established himself as a first-team regular at Southampton and thanks to his thrilling displays with the Saints, Tottenham Hotspur chiefs made a tempting offer for the Kenya international.
In 2016 Wanyama signed a four-year deal with the capital club and he has been playing for Spurs ever since. The Tottenham midfielder was born in Nairobi on June 25, 1991 and he made his international debut for the Kenya national team in a friendly against Nigeria in May, 2007.
Highlighted Team (Toronto FC):
Toronto is a club based in Canada, but they have been competing in Major League Soccer since 2007. Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment own both the soccer club and National Hockey League’s Toronto Maple Leafs. BMO Field is the club’s home ground and the capacity of the stadium is 30.000.
The Canadian outfit impressed in the 2016 MLS Cup and they faced Seattle Sounders in the title game at BMO Field. However, the Canadians were more than unfortunate not to lift the silverware as they were beaten by the Sounders on penalties.
Speaking of the Canadian Championship, Toronto FC won their fifth domestic title in 2016, with the team beating Vancouver Whitecaps in the final of the tournament. Montreal Impact are considered the club’s biggest rivals and there have always been fireworks in meetings between the two Canadian sides. Toronto FC’s home kit is red and it is no surprise they are nicknamed the Reds. It has to be noted that the club was founded back in 2005.
