Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Walsall and Morecambe square off against each other at Bescot Stadium in the opening match of the new League Two campaign. The Saddlers finished the last League Two season in 11th place in the standings and, no doubt, they will try to grab a spot in the playoffs this time out. The club chiefs, though, have not been too active in the summer transfer window, speaking of attacking options, but they managed to keep hold of Matt, Gordon, and Johnson.
The Shrimps, on the other hand, have drawn each of their last three warm-up games and, no doubt, they would be happy with the share of spoils against Walsall as well. Morecambe, though, are not regarded as good travellers and given their 3-0 loss at Bescot Stadium last term, home win should be considered. A man to watch in the away team will be summer signing Lee Angol, who is likely to make his official debut against the Saddlers.
Highlighted Team (Morecambe):
Based in Lancashire, England, Morecambe are a professional club that compete in the League 2. The Shrimps were founded in 1920, and they welcome their home rivals at Globe Arena. The venue, which was opened in August, 2010, can hold up to 6,476 people.
Morecambe wear red shirts and red shorts when playing in front of home fans, while yellow is the dominant colour of their away kit. Fellow Lancashire-based club Accrington Stanley are seen as the club’s fiercest rivals. The Shrimps have rivalries with the likes of Lancaster City, Fleetwood Town, Barrow, Kendal Town, and Southport as well.
In 1974 Morecambe won the FA Trophy as they defeated Dartford 2-1 in the title game, and 14 years later they lifted the Conference League Cup trophy. The Shrimps secured promotion into the Football League with a 2-1 win over Exeter City in the 2007 play-offs final.
