Our prediction for this Champions League match:
Ulker Stadium Sukry Saracoglu will be packed when Fenerbahce and Lille take on each other in the Champions League third qualifying round, return leg. Les Dogues defeated Fenerbahce 2-1 in France thanks to Edon Zhegrova’s late goal, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in Istanbul. There are no fresh injury worries in the away team, but aforementioned forward Zhegrova could sneak into the starting XI.
The Yellow-Blues, on the other hand, have no other option but to go all guns blazing at Lille. Even though former Man Utd midfielder Fred misses out with injury, home win should be considered as over the years Fenerbahce have turned their stadium into a real fortress. Experienced Bosnia forward Edin Dzeko is widely expected to lead the line for the home team. In their last meeting in Istanbul the two sides played out a 1-1 draw.
Highlighted Player (Allan Saint-Maximin):
Allan Saint Maximin is a talented winger who was born in Chatenay-Malabry, France on March 12, 1997. Saint-Maximin played for the likes of Verrieres-le-Buisson, US Ris-Orangis, AC Boulogne-Billancourt and Saint-Etienne during his youth career and he continued playing for les Verts at Senior level.
After making 12 appearances in the league for Saint-Etienne senior team, Saint-Maximin moved to Monaco in 2015. However, the French winger made no more than one appearance for les Rouges et Blancs before joining Hannover and Bastia on loan. In the summer of 2017 he signed a contract with Nice for an undisclosed transfer fee.
Allan Saint-Maximim represented France at youth level, but he has yet to make his senior debut for les Tricolores. His main position is right winger, but he is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder as well. He wears No. 7 jersey at Nice and his contract with les Aiglons should expire on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Lille):
Lille have been playing an important role in French football ever since they were founded in 1944. Les Dogues won their first domestic trophy in the 1945/1946 season.
Lille did well to win their second Ligue 1 title in 1954 and 57 years later they lifted their last domestic title. Les Douges finished the 2010/2011 season in top position in the standings, eight points clear of second-placed Olympique Marseille and it has to be noted that Lille attacker Moussa Sow won the Golden Boot (25 goals).
Lille are one of the two teams that managed to win three consecutive Coupe de France trophies (1946, 1947, 1948), but they have yet to clinch the Coupe de la Ligue title. Les Dogues faced PSG in the 2015/2016 Coupe de la Ligue trophy, but les Parisiens proved to be a big catch for Frederic Antonetti’s team in the title game.
Lille play their home matches at Stade Pierre-Mauroy and the capacity of the stadium is 50.186. The venue was opened in August, 2017 and the construction cost €282 million.
