Partizan
Gent will look to defend their one-goal lead in the Europa Conference League tie with Partizan when the two sides take on each other at Planet Group Arena on Wednesday afternoon. Gent won the first leg thanks to Omri Gandelman’s goal and they are seen as hot favourites to win the reverse fixture as well. As Wouter Vrancken has a luxury to field the best possible side against Partizan, home win should definitely be considered.
The struggling Serbian giants, on the other hand, have been struggling in all three European competitions this term. As Aleksandar Stanojevic’s troops are low on confidence ahead of the trip to Belgium, we are tempted to bet on the home side. To make things even more complicated for the visiting side, important midfielder Young-Jun Goh limped off with injury in the first leg. Bosnia international Stefan Kovac is widely expected to replace him in the starting eleven.

Belgian defender Sven Kums began his youth career at Dilbeek Sport and in 1996 he joined Anderlecht. Despite spending seven years at the club, he did not see any game action with the Belgian giants at senior level. After ending his loan spells with the likes of Lierse and Kortrijk, he signed a permanent deal with de Kerels in 2008.
The 176-cm-tall midfielder, who was born on 26 February, 1988, scored 12 goals in 116 league appearances for Kortrijk and in 2011 he moved to Netherlands, signing a contract with Heerenveen. In 2013 he returned to Belgium, joining Zulte Waregem.
In the summer of 2014 he moved to fellow Belgian outfit Gent and at the end of the 2015/2016 season he signed a loan deal with Udinese. Kums has 12 caps for Belgium U21 and it has to be noted that his father Ludo Kums is working as a coach at Anderlecht. Sven Kums is a centre midfielder, but he plays as both attacking midfielder and defensive midfielder as well.

Partizan are a Serbian football club founded by Yugoslav People’s Army on October 4, 1945. The Crno-beli (Black and Whites) play their home games at Partizan Stadium and the capacity of the venue is 32.710. During the 20th century Partizan were in the shadow of their bitterest rivals Crvena zvezda, who won the European Cup in 1991, but nowadays the Crno-beli are the dominant force in the Serbian Super League, with the team winning their 11th domestic trophy of the 21st century in the 2016/2017 season.
Partizan face Crvena Zvezda in Veciti derbi (Eternal derby) which is considered one of the greatest derbies in the world. Speaking of the club’s European success, Partizan did well to make it to the European Cup final in the 1965/1966 season, but Real Madrid proved to be a big catch for the Serbian champions in the title game at Heysel Stadium.
