Our prediction for this Coppa Italia match:
Following a slim 2-2 draw with Venezia, Juventus will look to return to winning ways when they face Cagliari in the Coppa Italia last 16. The Bianconeri have won only one of their last six games in all competitions, but they are still seen as hot favourites to beat the Sardinians in Turin. All Francisco Conceicao, Manuel Locatelli, and Douglas Luiz are pushing for a start, while there are no fresh injury worries in the home team.
The Rossoblu, on the other hand, aim to recover from a 1-0 loss to Atalanta, but given their negative record at Allianz Stadium, we believe that there is a big value in betting on Alexandre Hugeux’s troops. You should know that Juventus have emerged triumphant in seven of the previous eight meetings with Cagliari in Turin. Angola international Zito Luvumbo limped off with injury against the Orobici, with Mattia Felici likely to step up.
Highlighted Player (Mattia Perin):
Mattia Perin is an Italian footballer who was born on 10 November, 1992 in Latina, Italy. Perin played for the likes of A.S.D. Pro Cisterna, Pistoiese and Genoa during his youth career and he continued to play for the Rossoblu at senior level. The Italian goalkeeper has been playing for Genoa since 2010, but it has to be noted that he spend some time on loan at Padova and Pescara between 2011 and 2013.
Perin played for Italy U17, U18, U19, U20 and U21 teams in the past and he made his debut for the Azzurri at senior level on 18 November, 2014, in a 1-0 win over Albania in a friendly match. He replaced Sirigu in the second half of the match.
The Italian shot-stopper tore his anterior cruciate ligament on 9 April, 2016 and, as a result, he did not represent Italy at the 2016 European Championship finals in France. Mattia Perin managed to keep eight clean sheets in 25 appearances for Genoa in the 2015/2016 Serie A campaign.
Highlighted Team (Cagliari):
Cagliari are a professional football club based in Cagliari, Sardinia. I Rossoblu (The Red and Blues) compete in Italian Serie A and the club’s biggest success came in 1970, when they won the national championship.
Cagliari finished the season in top position in the standings, four points clear of Juventus and it has to be noted that Luigi Riva led Cagliari to their first Serie A trophy.
I Rossoblu welcome their rivals at Stadio Sant’Elia and the capacity of the stadium is 16,000. In the 1993/1994 season Cagliari made it to the UEFA Cup semis, with the team suffering a loss to fellow Italian club Inter in the two-legged tie.
Giuseppe Pancaro helped Cagliari record a 3-2 win over Inter in the first leg, but I Rossoblu were hammered by the Nerazzurri in the second leg (3-0). Palermo are regarded as Cagliari’s main rivals and the two teams square off against each other in the Derby delle Isole.
