Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Accrington Stanley and Cheltenham Town square off against each other at the Wham Stadium in what is expected to be a close League Two game. The Accy Stanley aim to build on a hard-fought 1-0 win over Crewe and a triumph over Cheltenham will see them escape the danger zone. Bearing any fresh injury worries, manager John Doolan is unlikely to make changes to the team that defeated the Railwaymen.
The Robins, on the other hand, aim to build on a 2-1 win over Salford City. Cheltenham Town did well to put an end to their three-game winless run, but given their difficulties on the road, we are tempted to place our bets on the hosts this time out. January signing Ashley Hay is widely expected to return to the starting XI after coming as a substitute in the triumph over the Lions.
Highlighted Team (Accrington):
Founded back in 1891 and reformed in 1968, Accrington Stanley are an English football club that compete in the League One. The original team competed in the Football League from 1921 to 1962, spending the last four seasons in Lancashire Combination.
The Accy are well known for their red home kit, whilst they wear sky blue shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels. The League One side play their home games at Crown Ground, the stadium which can hold up to 5,450 spectators (3,100 seated). Accrington have been playing at Crown Ground since 1970.
Listed as the all-time favourite player amongst fans, Chris Grimshaw is one of the most famous Accrington Stanley footballers. However, George Stewart is the team’s top scorer, netting 136 goals in total from 1954 to 1958. It has to be noted that the Accy have yet to represent England in European competitions.
