Benfica
Nice and Benfica take on each other at Allianz Riviera in the closing match of Wednesday’s program. Les Aiglons enjoyed a very successful 2024/2025 Ligue 1 campaign, but they have big ambitions for the elite competition as well. A man to keep an eye on in the home team will be big-money signing Isak Jansson, who is expected to make life difficult for the opposition back-line.
The Eagles, on the other hand, are brimming with confidence following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Sporting CP in the Portuguese Super Cup. Benfica chiefs did well to reinforce the squad in the summer transfer window. Even though Nice are tough to beat at home, we are tempted to place our bets on Bruno Lage’s troops. It has to be noted that Benfica management have signed the likes of Richard Rios, Franjo Ivanovic, Amar Dedic, Samuel Dahl, and Rafa Obrador this summer. Argentina superstar Angel Di Maria is no longer part of the team.
