Our prediction for this Coupe de France match:
Wednesday’s football match at Orange Velodrome pits together Olympique Marseille and Strasbourg, the two teams who face each other in the Coupe de France last 16. Olympique Marseille rolled over Granville in the round of 32, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in the clash against the fellow Ligue 1 team. OM failed to impress in a goalless draw with Angers at the weekend, which is the main reason why home win should not be considered.
Strasbourg, on the other hand, impressed in a 3-1 win at Monaco, with Ludovic Ayorque scoring his eighth goal of the season. Le Racing crushed Angouleme 5-1 in the previous Coupe de France round, which is surely giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of the trip to Marseille. Since there have been under 2.5 goals in each of their last three meetings in all competitions; a low-scoring affair is on the horizon.
Highlighted Player (Dimitri Payet):

Dimitri Payet was born in Saint-Pierre, Reunion on 29 March 1987, but he joined Le Havre’s famous youth academy in 1999 and has since enjoyed a meteoric rise. The attacking midfielder started his professional career at Nantes, but top French clubs soon started casting admiring glances his way and he went on to represent Saint Etienne, Lille and Marseille, becoming one of Ligue 1’s leading footballers.
However, it was the move to West Ham that placed Payet on the map as the Frenchman enjoyed a brilliant start to his career in England, making the PFA Player of the Year Shortlist. Some excellent performances in the Premier League persuaded France coach Didier Deschamps to reinstate Payet into his starting line-up and the midfielder paid the coach back with some scintillating displays on international stage.
Excellent with the ball at his feet and very dangerous from set pieces, Payet quickly established himself as one of Europe’s top midfielders, with the likes of Barcelona, Arsenal and other top clubs now after his signature.
Highlighted Team (Strasbourg):

Founded back in 1906, Strasbourg is a professional football team that compete in French Ligue 1. Le Racing did remarkably well to win the 1979 Ligue 1 trophy and that is considered the biggest success in the history of the club. Strasbourg won Coupe de France on three occasions (1951, 1966, 2001) and they have three Coupe de la Ligue trophies as well (1964, 1997, 2005). Strasbourg’s main rivals are Metz and the two teams face each other in the Derby de l’Est (The Eastern derby).
Le Racing recorded their biggest victory over Valenciennes (10-0) in the 1937-1938 season, whilst they suffered their biggest loss to Limoges (0-8) in the 1959/1960 season. Paraguayan goalkeeper Jose Luis Chilavert, who is well known for his free-kick abilities, played for the club from 2000 to 2003, but he failed to score in a league match during his spell with the Stade de la Meinau outfit. Speaking of Stade de la Meinau, Strasbourg’s home ground was opened back in 1914 and the capacity of the venue is 29,320.
