Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Saturday’s football game at Wham Stadium pits together Accrington Stanley and Sunderland, the two teams who sit in the opposite halves of the League One standings ahead of Matchday 8. Accrington have been scoring goals for fun of late, but the Black Cats are likely to pose a much bigger threat for the hosts than their previous rivals. A man to keep an eye on in the home side will be Dion Charles, who scored his second goal of the season in a 3-3 draw with Bristol Rovers.
It has to be noted that the hosts will be without suspended defender Seamus Conneely against Sunderland. The Black Cats, on the other hand, aim to make amends for a 3-0 loss to Peterborough United, but seeing that they are not regarded as good travelers, we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw.
Highlighted Player (Billy Kee):
Born in Loughborough, England on December 1, 1990, Billy Kee is a professional footballer who plays for Accrington Stanley as a striker. However, despite being born in England, the 175-cm-tall attacker represents Northern Ireland on the international stage. Billy Kee was called up to the senior Northern Ireland squad in September, 2009 for a World Cup qualifiers against Slovakia, but he has yet to make his debut for the national team.
The Accrington Stanley man scored 13 goals for the Accy in the 2018/2019 League One campaign, but that did not help the team secure promotion to the Championship as they finished the season in the 14th place in the standings.
Billy Kee started his youth career at Leicester City academy, while playing for the likes of Torquay United, Burton Albion, Scunthorpe United and Mansfield Town at senior level. His contract with Accrington Stanley should expire on June, 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Sunderland):
Sunderland are a professional football club that have been playing their home games at the Stadium of Light since 1997. The capacity of the stadium is 49,000, but before expansion the original ground capacity was 42,000. Red and White shirts are Sunderland’s trademark and the club’s fiercest rivals are Newcastle United. The two local rivals have been contesting in the Tyne-Wear derby since 1898 and there have always been fireworks in what is one of the greatest derbies in English football. Sunderland were on the verge of dropping to the Championship in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign, but experienced tactician Sam Allardyce eventually helped the team avoid relegation.
The Black Cats have won six First Division trophies (now the Premier League), with the team lifting two FA Cup titles. Sunderland won their first FA Cup trophy in 1937, with the team beating Preston North End 3-1 in the title game. The club was founded in 1879 as Sunderland and District Teachers A.F.C.
