Our prediction for this League 1 match:
All eyes will be on Weston Homes when Peterborough United and Sunderland face each other in the League One derby. The Posh rolled over Southend United (2-0) and Milton Keynes Dons (4-0) in previous two league fixtures, meaning that they are high on confidence ahead of the visit of Sunderland. Peterborough United are eyeing their first home win of the season, but, no doubt, they would be happy with one point from Saturday’s football match against the promotion-chasing side.
The Black Cats made a promising start to the season as well and they will be looking to extend their winning run to five games in all competitions when they face the Posh on Matchday 6. An entertaining game is on the cards and we predict that the two teams are going to share the spoils at Weston Homes, just like they did in their last meeting in the League One.
Highlighted Player (Sebastien Bassong):
After scoring one goal in 79 appearances for Metz, Sebastien Bassong moved to Newcastle United in the summer of 2008, signing a deal with the Magpies for a fee of £500,000. The left-footed defender joined fellow Premier League side Tottenham at the end of the 2008/2009 season and he played for Spurs until 2012 when he signed a loan deal with Wolverhampton.
On August 21, 2012 he joined Norwich City for an undisclosed fee. The French footballer, who was born in Paris on July 9, 1986 spent the 2014/2015 season on loan at Watford before returning to Carrow Road.
Sebastien Bassong currently plays for Peterborough United in the League One and it has to be noted that he made his debut with the Posh in a 2-1 win over Luton Town in the EFL Trophy campaign. Bassong’s main position is centre-back, whilst his preferred foot is left.
Highlighted Team (Sunderland):
Sunderland are a professional football club that have been playing their home games at the Stadium of Light since 1997. The capacity of the stadium is 49,000, but before expansion the original ground capacity was 42,000. Red and White shirts are Sunderland’s trademark and the club’s fiercest rivals are Newcastle United. The two local rivals have been contesting in the Tyne-Wear derby since 1898 and there have always been fireworks in what is one of the greatest derbies in English football. Sunderland were on the verge of dropping to the Championship in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign, but experienced tactician Sam Allardyce eventually helped the team avoid relegation.
The Black Cats have won six First Division trophies (now the Premier League), with the team lifting two FA Cup titles. Sunderland won their first FA Cup trophy in 1937, with the team beating Preston North End 3-1 in the title game. The club was founded in 1879 as Sunderland and District Teachers A.F.C.
