Our prediction for this World Cup 2026 match:
Estadio Antonio Oddone Sarubbi will host Friday’s World Cup qualifier between Paraguay and Ecuador. La Albirroja are having a qualifying process to forget, with the team collecting only 13 points from possible 48. Since Paraguay head into the match with the lack of motivation, home win should not be considered. All Luis Zarate, Marcos Gomez, and Josue Colman are back to contention, while, as always, a man to watch in the home team will be Newcastle ace Miguel Almiron.
La Tricolor, on the other hand, aim to cement their spot in top four. Ecuador defeated Paraguay 2-0 earlier in the process, which is yet another reason why we are going to put our money on the visiting side. Jeremy Sarmiento is back to the squad, with both Danny Cabezas and Jorge Pinos receiving call-ups as well. Fenerbahce attacker Enner Valencia is widely expected to lead the line for the away side.
Highlighted Player (Alejandro Romero Gamarra):
Born in Ciudadela, Argentina on January 11, 1995, Alejandro Romero Gamarra is an attacking midfielder who plays for New York Red Bulls. The Argentine footballer, commonly known as Kaku, began his youth career at Huracan and he continued playing for el Globo at senior level.
After scoring nine goals in 94 appearances for the club, Kaku joined New York Red Bulls in the winter of 2018. Alejandro Romero Gamarra made his MLS debut for the Metros in a 2-0 win over Olimpia in the CONCACAF Champions League. Gamarra scored his first goal for New York Red Bulls in a 3-1 triumph over Club Tijuana in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Kaku has yet to earn a call-up for Argentina national team, but he made 5 appearances for the U20 team. His main position is attacking midfielder, but he can be used as a winger as well. In the 2013/2014 season he won Copa Argentina with Huracan.
Highlighted Team (Ecuador):
Ecuador had endured difficult times in footballing terms having been considered to be one of the more struggling football nations in South America, but the Tri have managed to transform themselves into a team that can never be taken lightly at the international scene.
Ecuador has taken part in three of the 22 World Cups with 12 position they achieved in 2006 in Germany being their best result so far. La Tricolor head into Copa America Centenario tied at the top of CONMEBOL’s World Cup qualifying table and their chances of making it through from group B have been increased with good results and alike performances.
Ivan Hurtado played for El Tri since 1992 to 2014 and former centre-back remains the most capped international with 168 games to his name. Ecuador captain Walter Ayovi is the active player with most games in the national team, while Felipe Caicedo with 19 goals is the top scorer of Gustavo Quinteros’ side.
