Our prediction for this World Cup 2026 match:
Estadio General Pablo Rojas will host Friday’s World Cup qualifier between Paraguay and Uruguay, the two teams who are vying for a place at the showpiece tournament in Qatar. La Albirroja aim to put an end to their five-game winless run, and they are likely to fight tooth and nail against La Celeste. Keep in mind, though, that all Andres Cubas, Celso Ortiz, Roberto Fernandez, and Omar Alderete miss out for the hosts. CSKA midfielder Jesus Medina has not been given permission to join the national team.
Uruguay, on the other hand, have been performing below expectations in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, and, as a result, they sit in 7th place in the standings. La Celeste are on a four-game losing run in the process, and seeing that they are desperate to return to winning ways as well, both teams to score betting option should be considered. Both Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani made the cut, while Diente Lopez, Leandro Cabrera, Mathias Olivera, Facundo Pellistri, and Sebastian Sosa are the new names in the Uruguay squad.
Highlighted Player (Alejandro Romero Gamarra):
Born in Ciudadela, Argentina on January 11, 1995, Alejandro Romero Gamarra is an attacking midfielder who plays for New York Red Bulls. The Argentine footballer, commonly known as Kaku, began his youth career at Huracan and he continued playing for el Globo at senior level.
After scoring nine goals in 94 appearances for the club, Kaku joined New York Red Bulls in the winter of 2018. Alejandro Romero Gamarra made his MLS debut for the Metros in a 2-0 win over Olimpia in the CONCACAF Champions League. Gamarra scored his first goal for New York Red Bulls in a 3-1 triumph over Club Tijuana in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Kaku has yet to earn a call-up for Argentina national team, but he made 5 appearances for the U20 team. His main position is attacking midfielder, but he can be used as a winger as well. In the 2013/2014 season he won Copa Argentina with Huracan.
Highlighted Team (Uruguay):
La Celeste are one of the most successful South American nations. Uruguay are frequently the champions of the continent having most recently won the tournament in 2011. They have won the Copa America a record 15 times including the first ever edition of the competition in 1916, while the team has also won FIFA World Cup in two occasions including the inaugural competition in 1930 when they defeated Argentina 4-2 in the final as hosts.
Their second World Cup title came in 1950 when Uruguay and Brazil played a legendary match which recorded a higher attendance than any other football match in the history of the game. Uruguay is the smallest country in the world to have won a World Cup by population, but La Celeste are proud of their football heritage which yielded some of the best footballers in the world over the course of history.
Most notable player of the current selection is Barcelona striker Luis Suarez, who is also the team’s top scorer with 45 goals to his name.
