Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Stevenage will be looking to build on a 2-1 win over Grimsby Town when they take on Exeter City in the League Two round 19. Stevenage did well to put an end to their three-game winless run, with the team regaining a much-needed confidence. The Boro are undefeated in the previous six home games in the league, and you should bear in mind that they managed to keep four clean sheets in the previous five home fixtures.
Exeter City aim to keep their playoffs hopes alive, but beating Stevenage on the road is easier said than done. The Grecians have been struggling in front of goal of late, and seeing that the Boro rarely concede when playing on home soil, we are tempted to put our money on under 2.5 goals. It has to be noted that under 2.5 goals have been netted in five of Exeter’s previous six league games.
Highlighted Player (Scott Cuthbert ):
Born in Alexandria, Scotland on June 15, 1987, Scott Cuthbert is a defender who plays for Stevenage in the League Two. Cuthbert is a product of the Celtic football academy, but he did not see any game action with the Hoops in the Scottish Premiership.
After ending his loan spells with Livingston and St. Mirren, the Scottish footballer joined Swindon Town in 2009 where he quickly established himself as a first-team regular. After scoring five goals in 80 appearances for the club, Scott Cuthbert moved to Leyton Orient before the start of the 2011/12 season.
After almost a five-year spell with the Brisbane Road outfit, the right-footed defender joined Stevenage in the summer of 2018, and he has been playing for the Posh ever since. He made his Stevenage debut in a 2-2 draw with Tranmere Rovers in the 2018/19 season opener. At the end of the campaign the Scottish footballer was named the club’s Player of the Year.
Highlighted Team (Exeter):
Nicknamed the Grecians, Exeter City are a professional football club that welcome their rivals at St. James Park. The stadium was opened in September 1904, and it can hold up to 8,696 spectators. Exeter City play their homes in white jerseys with red stripes, and black shorts, while violet and yellow are the dominant colours of their away kit.
The Grecians made it to the FA Cup quarter-finals on two occasions (1930/31, 1980/81), with the team advancing to the FA Trophy semis in the 2005/06 season. The likes of Harry Gee, Cliff Bastin, Maurice Setters, Dick Pym, Fred Whitlow, Arnold Mitchell, Tony Kellow, Fred Binney, Darran Rowbotham, Lee Sharp, and David Pleat are one of the most notable footballers who played for Exeter City in the past.
Plymouth Argyle, Torquay United, Bristol Rovers, and Yeovil Town are considered the club’s fiercest rivals. The Grecians currently compete in the League Two.
