Our prediction for this Championship match:
Middlesbrough and Bristol City go head to head at Riverside Stadium in the Championship round 32. The Boro have been showing signs of improvement of late, with the team beating both Huddersfield Town and Reading in the previous two league fixtures. Middlesbrough looked solid at the back in the triumph over the Royals, but they need to keep on winning if they are to secure a top-six finish.
Both Marcus Tavernier and Marcus Browne are likely to miss the game with injuries, but there are no suspended footballers in the home team. The Robins, on the other hand, head into the match with a severely-weakened squad as all Weimann, O’Dowda, Dasilva, Rowe, Mawson, and Martin are out of contention with injuries. Given Middlesbrough’s current form, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the hosts, who are eyeing a place in the playoffs.
Highlighted Player (Britt Assombalonga):
Over the years Britt Assombalonga has established himself as one of the best attackers in the Championship. If it wasn’t for injuries, Assombalonga would be producing much better showings in the English second tier, but he still makes life difficult for the opposition defenders at this level.
The DR Congo international, who was born in Kinshasa on December 6, 1992, starting his youth career at Watford. The pacey forward made only 4 appearances for the Hornets in the league before spending a couple of seasons on loan at Wealdstone, Braintree Town and Southend United. In July, 2013 Assombalonga joined Peterborough United, breaking the club’s previous transfer record (£1.1 million).
After scoring 23 goals in 43 appearances for the Posh, Britt Assombalonga moved to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2014, signing a five-year contract with the Reds for an undisclosed fee. Three years later Assombalonga moved to Middlesbrough and he has been playing for the Riverside Stadium ever since.
Highlighted Team (Bristol City):
Bristol City are one of the two famous clubs from the city of Bristol. Formed in 1894 the Robins mostly participated in English lower leagues and they have never played in the Premier League. Bristol City’s bitterest rivals are Bristol Rovers and it has to be noted that two teams first met in 1897. Bristol City have outplayed their local rivals on 43 occasions in the Bristol Derby.
Cardiff City are regarded as Bristol City’s bitter rivals as well. The Robins play their home games at Ashton Gate, the stadium that was opened in 1887. Bristol City were semi-finalists of the League Cup two times (1970/1971, 1988/1989), with the team making it to the FA Cup final in 1909.
The Robins faced Manchester United in the title game, but they failed to upset the English giants in the Crystal Palace clash. It is well known that Bristol City footballers wear red shirts and blue shorts.
