Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Salford City will be looking to build on a 4-1 win over Cambridge United when they take on Barrow in the League Two. The Lions continue to impress at home ground, but they need to keep on making progress if they are to secure promotion to the League One. Ian Henderson has been impressive in front of goal of late, meaning that the opposition defenders should have him at bay.
Barrow, on the other hand, suffered a dip in form, with the team losing to both Bradford City and Cambridge United in the previous two league fixtures. The newcomers are not regarded as good travellers, and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Salford City’s party at Peninsula Stadium. In the first half of the season Salford City defeated Barrow thanks to Ashley Hunter’s goal, which is yet another reason why we are tempted to put our money on the hosts.
Highlighted Player (Richie Towell):
Richie Towell is a professional footballer who was born in Dublin, Ireland on July 17, 1991. After starting his youth career at Crumlin United, Towell was spotted by Celtic scouts in 2007, and he decided to join the famous Scottish outfit.
However, he made only one appearance for the Hoops at senior level, coming as a substitute for Jos Hooiveld in a 2-2 draw with Inverness in November 2010. Ritchie Towell played for the likes of Hibernian (loan), Dundalk, Brighton, and Rotherham United (loan) as well before signing a deal with his current club Salford City.
The Salford City midfielder has nine caps with the Republic of Ireland U21 team, but he has yet to earn a call-up with the senior team. His primary position is central midfield, but he is used as an attacking midfielder as well. Richie Towell has two Irish Premier League trophies with Dundalk (2013, 2014).
Highlighted Team (Barrow):
Founded back in 1901, Barrow is an English club that competes in the League two, the fourth tier of the English football system. The Bluebirds are well known for their blue shirts with white details, but yellow is the dominant colour of their away jersey. Barrow play home games at Holker Street, the stadium which can hold up to 5,045 spectators.
The venue was opened in 1909, and it has to be noted that no fewer than 16,874 people attended the FA Cup match between Barrow and Swansea in January, 1954. The Bluebirds have won two FA Trophies (1989/90, 2009/10), with the team lifting the Lancashire Senior Cup trophy in the 1954/55.
The likes of James Bell, Jim Collins, Andy McLaren, Jimmy Mulholland, Jackie Robertson, Barry Diamond, and George King are the most notable footballers who played for Barrow in the past. It has to be noted that the Bluebirds have never competed in the English top flight.
