Groningen
PSV will be aiming to retain their spot in top two when they take on Groningen in the Eredivisie round 30. Roger Schmidt’s troops failed to put an end to Ajax’s dominance in the Dutch top flight, and the team’s new goal is to book a place in the Champions League. PSV are a real force to be reckoned with at home, with the team eyeing their 12th triumph at their Philips Stadion.
A man to watch in the home team will be Donyell Malen, who has netted 17 goals in the Eredivisie so far this season. Groningen, on the other hand, failed to impress in a 2-0 loss to Heerenveen, and it is no wonder they are seen as underdogs in Saturday’s clash. Even though talented midfielder Azor Matusiwa returns from suspension, we are tempted to put our money on PSV, who have been impressive on home soil this term.
Highlighted Player (Philipp Max):
Philipp Max is the son of the former striker Martin Max, who is famous for being one of the oldest winners of the top scorer crown in Bundesliga, at the age of 32 and 34. Born in Viersen, Germany, Philipp Max started his career in SC Baldham, after which he joined 1860 Munich in 2003.
Bayern Munich youth team was his next destination, but three years after Max signed for Schalke 04 in 2010. For two years he played in the youth team and after that he was moved to Schalke 04 II, recording 54 games and netting 3 goals in the process.
He made his debut for the Shalke 04 senior team on March 2014 in the clash against Borussia Dortmund, as a replacement for Julian Draxler. However, he did not impress during his spell with Die Königsblauen, so he moved to Karlsruher and later on to Augsburg, which was a spot on decision. The left back, who can also play as a left midfielder and left winger, was the second-best assist provider in the Bundesliga during the season 2017/18, just behind Thomas Muller.

Groningen is a Dutch football clubs that competes in the Eredivisie. Founded on June 16, 1971, Groningen play home games at Euroborg. The venue was built by Ballas Nedam, Royal BAM Group and VolkerWessels, and it can hold up to 22,525 people.
The Trots van het Noorden (Pride of the North) are well known for their white home shirts with red stripes, while purple is the dominant colour of their away kit. Volendam are considered the club’s fiercest rivals, but they have a rivalry with Twente as well after the 1980s incidents between their fans. Groningen have yet to win the Eredivisie trophy, but they did well to go all the way in the Dutch Cup in the 2014/15 season.
The green and whites defeated Zwolle 2-0 in the title game. Speaking of their European success, it has to be noted that Groningen participated in the Europa League on two occasions. In the 2015/16 season the Trots van het Noorden booked their place in the group stages of the competition, but they failed to record a win in the process.
