Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Nice will be looking to build on a 3-2 win over Brest when they take on Strasbourg in yet another home fixture. Les Aiglons are eyeing their third consecutive triumph in the French top flight, and we are positive that they will stick to their attacking style of play. All Schneiderlin, Nsoki, Maolida, Dante, and Reine-Adelaide are sidelined with injuries, while Lees-Melou will have to serve his ban against Strasbourg.
Le Racing are determined to secure yet another Ligue 1 survival, and even though Nice are a real force to be reckoned with at home, we predict that the visitors are going to grab something from the match. Les Aiglons missed out on a place in European competitions, meaning that they have nothing to play for in Sunday’s clash. All Saadi, Majeed Waris, Simakan, and Mothiba are out of contention for the visitors.
Highlighted Player (Youcef Atal):
The Boghni born Algerian started playing football at the age of ten when he joined CR Belouizdinad's youth academy in 2006. His decade long youth career saw him feature for other more Algerian teams before signing a professional contract with the last one, namely Paradou AC, in 2015.
Atal, who predominantly plays as a right-back, made his first professional appearance on the 9th of January 2016, playing in Paradou's 3-0 over CR Beni Thour in the Coupe d'Algerie. His performances during his 17/18 loan spell at Belgian Club Kortrijk earned him a move to France with OGC Nice in 2018.
At Nice, the 23-year-old has become a valuable first-team player and is on a five-year contract expiring in 2023. On the International stage, Atal has capped 14 times for Algeria, making his debut on the 6th of June, 2017, in a friendly against Guinea.
Highlighted Team (Strasbourg):
Founded back in 1906, Strasbourg is a professional football team that compete in French Ligue 1. Le Racing did remarkably well to win the 1979 Ligue 1 trophy and that is considered the biggest success in the history of the club. Strasbourg won Coupe de France on three occasions (1951, 1966, 2001) and they have three Coupe de la Ligue trophies as well (1964, 1997, 2005). Strasbourg’s main rivals are Metz and the two teams face each other in the Derby de l’Est (The Eastern derby).
Le Racing recorded their biggest victory over Valenciennes (10-0) in the 1937-1938 season, whilst they suffered their biggest loss to Limoges (0-8) in the 1959/1960 season. Paraguayan goalkeeper Jose Luis Chilavert, who is well known for his free-kick abilities, played for the club from 2000 to 2003, but he failed to score in a league match during his spell with the Stade de la Meinau outfit. Speaking of Stade de la Meinau, Strasbourg’s home ground was opened back in 1914 and the capacity of the venue is 29,320.
