Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
After Rayo Vallecano ruined their survival hopes, Castellon will be looking to give fans some cheer when they take on Malaga in the last game of the season. Castellon, though, are on a four-game losing run in La Liga 2, and given their difficulties in front of goal, it is no wonder the bookies see them as underdogs in Sunday’s clash. All Cubillas, Diaz, Garcia, and Ortuno are pushing for a start.
Malaga, on the other hand, aim to put an end to their seven-game winless run, and we predict that they will take advantage of the current atmosphere in Castellon’s dressing room. Los Boquerones have not been impressive at their La Rosaleda this season, but we predict that they will record their sixth home win of the process on Matchday 42. Serbia international Stefan Scepovic should continue to lead the line for the hosts.
Highlighted Player (David Lomban):
David Lomban was born in Aviles, Asturias on 5 June, 1987 and he began his senior career at Valencia. The 185-cm-tall defender played 37 matches for Valencia B and he made no more than three appearances for the first team. After spending the 2009/2010 season on loan at Salamanca, he joined Xerez in 2010 and two years later he signed for Barcelona B.
David Lomban played just one season for the Catalan outfit in Segunda Division and then he decided to take a bigger step towards a brighter future as he joined La Liga side Elche. After making 62 appearances for the club, he signed a three-year contract with Granada on 10 August, 2015. Lomban played 31 games for los Granadinos in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign, but he failed to find the net for the Andalusian outfit in the top flight.
David Lomban’s contract with Granada expires on 30 June, 2018. Speaking of his international career, the Granada defender has 11 caps for Spain U17 and he played one match for Spain U20 team as well.
Highlighted Team (Castellon):
CD Castellon is a Spanish club based in the Valencian Community. Valencia flag dominates the club’s crest, but their home colours are white with black stripes. Castellon footballers wear green jerseys and green shorts when playing on the travels.
The club have been having their ups and downs ever since it was founded on July 20, 1922, with the team finishing fifth in the Spanish elite division in the 1972/73 season. It has to be noted that Castellon have not played in La Liga since the 1990/91 campaign when they suffered relegation to Segunda Division. Nowadays, Castellon compete in the Spanish second tier, with the team welcoming their rivals at Nou Castalia stadium.
Legendary Spanish coach Vicente Del Bosque played for the club in the 1970s. Castellon’s biggest success came in the 1972/73 season as they participated in the Copa del rey final. However, Athletic Bilbao proved to be a big catch for them in the title game.
