Our prediction for this Copa America match:
Paraguay and Bolivia face each other at Estadio Olimpico Pedro Ludovico in their Group A opener. Paraguay aim to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to Brazil, and they are seen as favourites to beat Bolivia in Goiania. A man to watch in the home team will be Newcastle United star Miguel Almiron, who should be deployed up front in the 5-3-2 formation.
La Verde, on the other hand, did well to hold Chile to a draw in their last World Cup qualifier, but it has to be noted that La Roja missed a number of clear-cut opportunities to score. Considering that Bolivia have always been struggling away from home, we are tempted to put our money on Paraguay this time out. The two teams meet for the first time at Copa America since 1999 when they played out a goalless draw in Asuncion.
Highlighted Player (Alejandro Romero Gamarra):
Born in Ciudadela, Argentina on January 11, 1995, Alejandro Romero Gamarra is an attacking midfielder who plays for New York Red Bulls. The Argentine footballer, commonly known as Kaku, began his youth career at Huracan and he continued playing for el Globo at senior level.
After scoring nine goals in 94 appearances for the club, Kaku joined New York Red Bulls in the winter of 2018. Alejandro Romero Gamarra made his MLS debut for the Metros in a 2-0 win over Olimpia in the CONCACAF Champions League. Gamarra scored his first goal for New York Red Bulls in a 3-1 triumph over Club Tijuana in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Kaku has yet to earn a call-up for Argentina national team, but he made 5 appearances for the U20 team. His main position is attacking midfielder, but he can be used as a winger as well. In the 2013/2014 season he won Copa Argentina with Huracan.
Highlighted Team (Bolivia):
Bolivian Football Federation has been established in 1926 and it is one of the 10 member of South American Football Confederation. Managed by Julio César Baldivieso, La Verde have gone through difficult times since their second place finish at Copa America 1997.
Three-time World Cup participants have last appeared at the global stage in 1994 and they have never gone past the first round on any of the three tournaments, scoring only one goal at the tournament held in the USA. Bolivia took part in 24 Copa America tournaments since their debut in 1926 and the most prominent result was their 1963 title.
Luis Hector Cristaldo and Marco Sandy are the two players with most caps for Bolivia with their 93 international appearances, while Joaquin Botero’s name still stands at the top of the scoring charts with the former Bolivian international netting 20 during his time with the national team.
