Our prediction for this Europa Conference League match:
Roma will look to make a flying start to their Europa Conference League campaign when they face Trabzonspor at Medical Park Stadium. Roma fans have faith in new boss Jose Mourinho, who is eager to win everything with the capital club. The Romans were producing fine displays in pre-season, and it is no wonder the bookies see them as favourites to win Thursday’s clash.
Edin Dzeko is no longer part of the team, and, in his absence, big-money signing Eldor Shomurodov is widely expected to lead the line for the Serie A outfit. Trabzonspor, on the other hand, set up a meeting with Roma by beating Molde on penalties. The Turkish outfit have been impressive up front in the Conference League qualifiers, and given Roma’s attacking potential, both teams to score betting option should be considered. A man to keep an eye on in the home team will be former Roma winger Gervinho.
Highlighted Player (Benik Afobe):
Benik Afobe is a 183-cm-tall striker who plays for Bournemouth. Afobe is a product of Arsenal youth academy, but he did not make his first-team debut with the Gunners. After spending several seasons on loan at Huddersfield Town, Reading, Bolton, Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday and Milton Keynes Dons, Afobe signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Wolverhampton on 14 January, 2015.
The pacey attacker scored 22 goals in 46 appearances for Wolves and, as a result, Bournmouth chiefs decided to sign him on 10 January, 2016. Benik scored 4 goals in 12 appearances for the Cherries in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign and, no doubt, he helped the team secure the top flight survival.
It has to be noted that Afobe won the UEFA European Under-17 Championship with England back in 2010. The former Wolves attacker was born in Leyton, England on 12 February, 1993. Benik Afobe is capable of playing as a secondary striker as well.
Highlighted Team (AS Roma):
AS Roma is a professional football club based in Rome. Roma were founded by a merger in 1927 and they play in the Italian Serie A. Roma’s fiercest rivals are Lazio and it has to be noted that both capital clubs play their home games at Stadio Olimpico. The two local rivals face each other in the Derby della Capitale, which is considered one of the most exciting derbies in the world of football.
The Giallorossi (The Yellow and Reds) have won three Serie A titles (1941/1942, 1982/1983, 2000/2001), while winning nine Coppa Italia trophies. The colour of Roma’s shirts is imperial purple with a golden yellow trim. A number of top-class footballers were part of Roma in the past, but Francesco Totti is undisputedly the club’s biggest legend. The Prince of Rom made his 601 appearances for Roma on 14 May, 2016 when the Giallorossi recorded a 3-1 win over Milan at Stadio San Siro.
