Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Nantes and Lyon go head to head at Stade de la Beaujoire in the opening match of day 4 of the new Ligue 1 campaign. Les Canaris have been having their ups and downs at the start of the season, with the team beating Metz, sharing the spoils with Monaco, while losing to Rennes. Nantes continue with their habit of producing much better displays at home than on the travels, and they are surely capable of matching Lyon, who made a slow start to the season.
The likes of Coulibaly, Cyprien, Limbombe, and Kolo Muani are out of contention with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the home team. Les Gones, on the other hand, have been struggling at the back at the start of the season, with the team already conceding seven goals in the process. Given Lyon’s attacking potential, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score.
Highlighted Player (Alban Lafont):
Alban Lafont is a French goalkeeper who plays for Ligue 1 side Toulouse. Born in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, Lafont joined AS Lattoise youth school at the age of nine and he stayed at the academy until 2014 when he moved to Toulouse.
The 193-cm-tall goalkeeper has established himself as a first-choice goalkeeper at Toulouse and it has to be noted that he made 36 appearances for the club in the 2016/2017 season, keeping 10 clean sheets in the process. Due to his dual citizenship, Alban Lafont is eligible to represent both Burkina Faso and France on international stage, but he has yet to play for the African team.
Alban Lafont represented les Tricolores at youth level and, no doubt, there is a bright future ahead of the talented shoot-stopper who was born on January 23, 1999. The rising star has a contract with Toulouse which expires on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Lyon):
Commonly referred to as Lyon, Olympique Lyonnais is the French club which play their games at the Parc Olimpique Lyonnais with a capacity just a pinch short of 60,000. Lyon is one of the most popular clubs in France with a vast fan base on par with Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille.
The club achieved moderate success during the 1960s and 1970s led by the likes of Bernard Lacombe and Jean Djorkaeff, while the golden era of the French side came at the start of the new millennium when Lyon began to achieve greater success both in France and on the international level.
It was not until 2002 that Lyon won their first ever Ligue 1 title which sparked an ongoing national record-breaking streak of seven successive titles. During that time Lyon were regular participants of the UEFA Champions League. The French club reached quarter-finals on two occasions, while they even played in the semi-finals in the 2009-10 season.
