Our prediction for this World Cup 2026 match:
Estadio Hernando Siles will host Thursday’s World Cup qualifier between Bolivia and Colombia. La Verde are eyeing their second win of process, while los Cafeteros aim to climb to top four in the standings. Bolivia midfielder Alejandro Chumacero returns to the squad after overcoming a muscle injury, while experienced attacker Marcelo Martins is widely expected to lead the line for the hosts after missing the Chile game (1-1) through illness.
The Colombians head into the match with a severely-weakened squad as footballers from Premier League and Serie A are not allowed to take part in the September qualifiers. Since the likes of Cuadrado, Uribe, Sanchez, Ospina, Mina, and Muriel should be sorely missed in Thursday’s clash, we are not tempted to put our money on los Cafeteros. Bolivia are a real force to be reckoned with at home, and, taking everything into account, home win should be considered.
Highlighted Player (Luis Haquin):
Born in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia), Luis Haquin is a 190-cm-tall defender who plays for Mexican side Puebla. Haquin started his senior career at Oriente Petrolero and after scoring three goals in 63 appearances in the Bolivian top flight, he moved to Puebla in 2018.
The Bolivia international made his debut for the Mexican team on February 16, 2019 in a 1-1 draw with Pachuca in Liga MX. Speaking of his international debut, Luis Haquin played his first ever match for the Bolivia national team on June 7, 2017 in a friendly against Nicaragua.
La Verde won the match 3-2, with Haquin coming as a substitute for Joan Candia in the dying minutes of the game. It has to be noted that the Puebla man has 4 caps for Bolivia U20 team. His main position is centre-back, but he is used as a defensive midfielder as well. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Colombia):
Seleccion de futbol Colombia has stepped on to the international scene in 1938 with its competitive debut against Mexico. Colombia has in recent years become a national symbol of strength representing country’s efforts to fight the negative reputation.
Passionate about their football team, Colombians have formed a huge fan base which enjoyed in their team’s impressive run to the 2014 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals at the competition in which Real Madrid star James Rodriguez was awarded the Golden Boot for most goals and the Best Goal of the Tournament awards. Jose Pekerman’s team has also been named the Fair Play team at the same event.
The fans were pretty disappointed to see their team reach the quarter-final stage at the 2015 Copa America though as Colombia crashed out in disappointing fashion losing to Argentina after a penalty kick. Radamel Falcao remains the most prominent star of the current team despite his poor spells with Manchester United and Chelsea respectively. Monaco striker is also the team’s top scorer with 25 goals added to his name.
