Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Ponferradina will be looking to record their fifth home win of the season when they face Fuenlabrada at their Estadio El Toralin on Matchday 10. La Ponfe have been impressive at home ground this term, and it is no wonder the bookies see them as slim favourites to win Sunday’s clash. Even though attacker Edu misses the game through suspension, we believe that home win should be considered.
Fuenla, on the other hand, aim to climb to the playoffs berth. Fuenlabrada, though, are on a three-game winless run on the road, which is probably the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on the hosts. It has to be noted that Ponferradina are eyeing their first win over Fuenlabrada since May 2019 when the two teams faced each other in the Segunda Division B.
Highlighted Player (Curro Sanchez):
Curro Sanchez is a Spanish footballer who plays for Ponferradina in Segunda Division. Born in La Palma del Condado on January 3, 1996, Sanchez began his youth career at Siempre Alegres, but in 2007 he was spotted by Sevilla scouts.
Curro Sanchez did not hesitate at all, signing a contract with the famous La Liga side. To make things even better for the Andalusian, he made his senior debut with Sevilla in La liga on May 4, 2016 in a 1-1 draw with Deportivo La Coruna. Curro Sanchez then joined Numancia, where he scored 13 goals in 34 appearances in Segunda Division for los Numantinos.
In 2020 he signed a deal with La Liga 2 side Ponferradina. Sanchez made his la Ponfe debut in a 2-0 win over Albacete on September 20, 2020. Even though right winger is his primary position, Curro Sanchez is capable of producing fine performances as an attacking midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Fuenlabrada):
Nicknamed los Kirikos, Fuenlabrada is a Spanish football club that competes in Segunda Division. Fuenlabrada was founded in 1975, with the team securing promotion to La Liga 2 for the first time in the 2019/20 season.
Fuenla finished the campaign in the 8th place in the standings, and, as a result, they missed out on a place in the Segunda division playoffs. Los Kirikos wear blue shirts and blue shorts when playing on home soil, while their away kit is mainly red. Estadio Fernando Torres is the club’s home ground. The venue was named under legendary Spanish attacker Fernando Torres, who scored 38 goals in 110 appearances for La Furia Roja on the international stage.
“El Nino”, who was born in Fuenlabrada, played for the likes of Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea, Milan, and Sagan Tosu during his professional career. Dioni is leading Fuenlabrada all-time top scorers list as he netted 47 goals in 82 appearances for the club.
