Our prediction for this Championship match:
All eyes will be on Craven Cottage when Fulham and QPR square off against each other in the Championship round 12. The Cottagers experienced all sorts of problems at the back in the 4-1 loss to Coventry City, meaning that they are desperate to get back on course. Aleksandar Mitrovic should start as he was rested in Serbia’s 3-1 win over Azerbaijan, while all Fabio Carvalho, Terence Kongolo, Tom Cairney, and Kenny Tete are sidelined with injuries.
The Hoops, on the other hand, aim to build on back-to-back home wins over Birmingham (2-0) and Preston (3-2). However, away win should not be considered as QPR were beaten by both Bournemouth (1-2) and WBA (1-2) in the previous two away games in the Championship. As for the visiting team, all Sam McCallum, Lee Wallace, and Sam Field miss out through injuries.
Highlighted Player (Tom Cairney):
Tom Cairney is a professional footballer who plays for Fulham. His main position is central midfielder, but he plays as an attacking midfielder and a right midfielder as well. The left-footed player was born in Nottingham, England on 20 January, 1991 and he started his youth career at Leeds United.
In 2007 he moved to Hull City and he was named Hull’s Young Player of the Year for the 2008/2009 campaign. After making 70 league appearances for the Tigers he joined Blackburn Rovers on 1 August, 2013 on loan and on 2 January, 2014 he signed a permanent deal with the Riversiders. At the end of the 2014/2015 Championship campaign he joined Fulham.
Tom Cairney’s father is Scottish and, as a result, the Fulham footballer decided to represent Scotland on the international stage. Cairney has 2 caps for Scotland U-21 and he made 6 appearances for Scotland U-21 team. It has to be noted that he suffered a serious injury in August 2012. The injury forced him to be out of contention for over three months.
Highlighted Team (QPR):
Queens Park Rangers are well known as QPR. The capital club was founded in 1886 and Loftus Road Stadium is QPR’s ground. Loftus Road Stadium was opened in 1904 and the capacity of the venue 18,439. However, it has to be noted that no less than 35,353 spectators watched the game between QPR and Leeds on 27 April, 1974.
The Hoops finished the 1975/1976 First Division campaign in second position in the standings, just behind champions Liverpool. This is considered the club’s biggest success, but Queens Park Rangers made it to the FA Cup final in 1982 as well.
QPR were beaten by fellow capital club Tottenham Hotspur in the title game, but they did well to lift the League Cup trophy in 1967. Queens Park’s main rivals are Brentford, Chelsea and Fulham, but other clubs based in London are considered QPR’s rivals as well. The colour of QPR’s shirts is blue and white.
