Our prediction for this League 1 match:
After suffering a heavy 3-0 loss to Portsmouth on Tuesday evening, Lincoln will look to give fans some cheer when they take on Accrington at LNER Stadium. The Imps failed to win the previous three league fixtures, and, as a result, they are only five points clear of the relegation zone. Lincoln are desperate to get back on course, and we predict that they will fight tooth and nail against Accrington.
Both N’Lundulu and Adelakun are pushing for a start. The Accy Stanley, on the other hand, are on a three-game losing run in the League One, meaning that Lincoln will not have a better chance than this to return to winning ways. It has to be noted that Accrington failed to beat Lincoln in the previous ten meetings between the two sides at LNER Stadium in all competitions.
Highlighted Player (Liam Bridcutt ):
Liam Robert Bridcutt is a professional footballer who plays for Lincoln City as a defensive midfielder. Born in Reading, England on May 8, 1989, Bridcutt is a product of the Chelsea football academy, but he did not see any game action for the Blues at senior level. After ending his loan spells with Yeovil Town, Watford, and Stockport County, the 175-cm footballer signed a five-month contract with Brighton where he established himself as a first-team regular.
After making 132 appearances in the league for the Seagulls, Liam Bridcutt moved to Sunderland in the winter of 2014. He played for the likes of Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Bolton Wanderers as well before joining Lincoln City in January, 2020.
His main position is defensive midfield, but he is used as a central midfielder as well. The Lincoln City player has a dual citizenship (Scotland/England), and it has to be noted that he has two caps with the Scotland national team.
Highlighted Team (Accrington):
Founded back in 1891 and reformed in 1968, Accrington Stanley are an English football club that compete in the League One. The original team competed in the Football League from 1921 to 1962, spending the last four seasons in Lancashire Combination.
The Accy are well known for their red home kit, whilst they wear sky blue shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels. The League One side play their home games at Crown Ground, the stadium which can hold up to 5,450 spectators (3,100 seated). Accrington have been playing at Crown Ground since 1970.
Listed as the all-time favourite player amongst fans, Chris Grimshaw is one of the most famous Accrington Stanley footballers. However, George Stewart is the team’s top scorer, netting 136 goals in total from 1954 to 1958. It has to be noted that the Accy have yet to represent England in European competitions.
