Our prediction for this Championship match:
Preston will look to make amends for a 1-0 loss to Blackburn Rovers when they host Barnsley to their Deepdale. The Lilywhites are eager to move closer to the top half of the table, and they will not have a better chance than this to return to winning ways. All Matthew Olosunde, Joshua Murphy, Connor Wickham, and Isaiah Brown should miss out with injuries for the home team.
The Tykes, on the other hand, are stuck in the relegation zone, and given their five-game winless run in the Championship, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the Lilywhites. Barnsley boss Poya Asbaghi should have a full squad to choose from. In their last meeting in the English second tier Preston defeated Barnsley 2-0, and we predict that the history is going to repeat itself.
Highlighted Player (Scott Sinclair):
At the age of nine, Scott Sinclair joined Bristol Rovers youth school and seven years later he signed a deal with Chelsea. However, the winger played no more than five league games for Chelsea as he spent a big part of his career on loan at Plymouth, QPR, Charlton, Crystal Palace, Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic, WBA and Aston Villa. He played for Swansea City between 2010 and 2012, scoring 28 goals in 82 league appearances for the Welsh outfit.
On 19 May, 2015 Sinclair signed a permanent deal with Aston Villa, but he failed to impress in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign. He scored only two goals in 21 league appearances for the team and the Villans eventually dropped to the Championship.
The Aston Villa winger, who is capable of playing on both sides of the field, has 7 caps for England U21 and it has to be noted that he made 4 appearances for Great Britain, scoring one goal for Team GB. Scott Sinclair was born in Bath, England on 25 March, 1989.
Highlighted Team (Barnsley):
Barnsley are an English club nicknamed the Tykes. The club was founded in 1887 and it has to be noted that they spend more seasons in the Championship than any other club in the history. The Tykes played in the Sheffield and District League from 1890, but in 1895 they were part of the Midland League. Barnsley play their home games at Oakwell, the stadium that was built in 1887.
The capacity of the stadium is 23,009 and it was opened back in 1888, just one year after the club’s foundation. The Tykes made it to the FA Cup final in 1910, but Newcastle United proved to be a big catch for the Oakwell outfit in the title game.
Nonetheless, Barnsley won the FA cup trophy in 1912 and that is considered the club’s biggest success. Barnsley defeated West Bromwich Albion in the two-legged tie (0-0, 1-0) to clinch the prestigious trophy for the first and only time in their history.
