Our prediction for this Championship match:
Buoyed by a hard-fought 1-0 win over league leaders Fulham, Sheffield United will look to give fans yet another reason for celebration when they take on Preston on Boxing Day. New boss Paul Heckingbottom undisputedly helped the team regain a much-needed confidence, and it is no wonder the bookies see his men as favourites to win Sunday’s clash. A man to watch in the away team will be Iliman Ndiaye, who has found his goal-scoring touch of late, while Rhian Brewster, Robin Olsen, and Jack O’Connell continue to miss out with injuries.
Morgan Gibbs-White is a major doubt after picking up a knock in Monday’s clash. The Lilywhites, on the other hand, aim to build on a 2-1 win over Barnsley. Anyhow, an interesting encounter is on the cards at Deepdale, and we are tempted to put our money on both teams to score. The likes of Matthew Olosunde, Tom Barkhuizen, Joshua Murphy, Connor Wickham, and Isaiah Brown are out of contention with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Scott Sinclair):
At the age of nine, Scott Sinclair joined Bristol Rovers youth school and seven years later he signed a deal with Chelsea. However, the winger played no more than five league games for Chelsea as he spent a big part of his career on loan at Plymouth, QPR, Charlton, Crystal Palace, Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic, WBA and Aston Villa. He played for Swansea City between 2010 and 2012, scoring 28 goals in 82 league appearances for the Welsh outfit.
On 19 May, 2015 Sinclair signed a permanent deal with Aston Villa, but he failed to impress in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign. He scored only two goals in 21 league appearances for the team and the Villans eventually dropped to the Championship.
The Aston Villa winger, who is capable of playing on both sides of the field, has 7 caps for England U21 and it has to be noted that he made 4 appearances for Great Britain, scoring one goal for Team GB. Scott Sinclair was born in Bath, England on 25 March, 1989.
Highlighted Team (Sheffield United):
Sheffield United are a professional football club that compete in the Championship. The Blades finished the 2016/2017 League One campaign in top position in the standings, with the team collecting exactly 100 points in the process. Sheffield United last competed in the Premier League in the 2006/2007 season and they were more than unfortunate not to secure the top flight survival.
The Blades finished the season in 18th place in the process and it has to be noted that they were level on points with Wigan Athletic, who managed to avoid the relegation to the English second tier. Sheffield United welcome their rivals at Bramal Lane, the stadium which was opened on April 30, 1855. The current capacity of the venue is 32.702.
The club have numerous rivalries, but the most notable one is the rivalry with their city neighbors Sheffield Wednesday. The two teams face each other in the Steel City derby and it has to be noted that United share rivalry with the likes of Barnsley, Rotherham United, Doncaster Rovers and Leeds United as well.
