Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Leganes will be aiming to make amends for a massive 4-0 loss to Burgos when they host Alcorcon to their Estadio Municipal de Butarque. The capital club are desperate to escape the danger zone, and they will not have a better chance than this to return to winning ways. Unai Bustinza misses out through suspension, while both Sabin and Quintila are pushing for a start.
Los Alfareros, on the other hand, are having a season to forget, with the team sitting in the ultimate place in the standings ahead of the trip to Madrid. Considering that Leganes produce much better showings at home than on the travels, we predict that the rock-bottom side will return home empty-handed. Juanma Bravo remains in the recovery room, while January signing Ivan Calero should keep his place in the starting XI. In their last meeting at the venue the capital club defeated los Alfareros 1-0.
Highlighted Player (Recio):
Recio is a Spanish footballer who was born in Malaga on January 11, 1991. Recio is a product of his home-town club Malaga and he has been playing for los Boquerones at senior level since 2010. The right-footed midfielder spent the 2013/2014 La Liga season on loan at Granada and he returned to Malaga at the end of the campaign.
It has to be noted that he scored four goals in 45 appearances for los Granadinos in the Spanish top flight. Recio made only 18 appearances for Malaga in La Liga in the 2016/2017 season, scoring three goals in the process, while providing two assists for his teammates.
Speaking of his international career, the midfielder made his debut with Spain U21 team on March 24, 2011 in a friendly against France. To make things even better for him, Recio represented Spain at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia later that year, making four appearances for La Roja at the showpiece tournament. Recio’s main position is central midfield, but he is capable of playing a defensive midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Alcorcon):
Founded on July 20, 1971, Alcorcon have been competing in Segunda Division since the 2010/11 season. Los Alfareros welcome their rivals at Santo Domingo, the stadium opened in 1999. The venue has the capacity of 5,100 people. Alcorcon have made it to the Segunda Division playoffs on several occasions, but they have never participated in La Liga.
The club’s biggest success in Copa del rey came in the 2009/10 season when they made it to the last 16 of the prestigious competition. Alcorcon suffered a 3-2 (on agg.) loss to Racing Santander in the round of 16. The club’s home colour is yellow, while their away kit is mainly blue.
Los Alfareros played their first official game on September 8, 1971, with the team losing 2-0 to Atletico Madrid youth team. The likes of Cordoba and Leganes are regarded as the club’s main rivals, while David Rodriguez is the club’s all-time top goalscorer.
