Our prediction for this Champions League match:
Manchester City will look to move one step closer to winning the Champions League title when they take on Sporting CP at Estadio Jose Alvalade on Tuesday evening. The Lions head into the match following a 2-2 draw with Porto, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in the Champions League showdown. Since key midfielder Pedro Goncalves misses out with injury, we do not believe that home win should be considered.
Pep Guardiola, on the other hand, rested several first-team regulars in a 4-0 win over Norwich City. All Aymeric Laporte, Kevin De Bruyne, Joao Cancelo, and Rodri should be recalled to the starting XI, while Kyle Walker misses out through suspension. Both Gabriel Jesus and Jack Grealish are out of contention with injuries. Anyhow, we are tempted to put our money on Pep Guardiola’s troops, who are enjoying yet another successful season.
Highlighted Player (Sebastian Coates):
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, on October 7, 1990, Sebastian Coates is a 196-cm-tall defender who plays for Sporting CP in Primeira Liga. Coates is the product of the hometown club Nacional, and it has to be noted that he scored eight goals in 60 appearances for the capital club in the national championship.
After ending his spell with English club Sunderland, the Uruguay international moved to Portugal, signing a loan deal with Sporting CP in January 2016. He signed a permanent contract with the Lions in February 2017.
Speaking of his international career, Sebastian Coastes made his full Uruguay debut against Chile at the 2011 Copa America. La Celeste won the trophy, with the team beating Paraguay 3-0 in the final of the competition at Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti in Buenos Aires. Coates wears the number 4 shirt at Sporting CP, and his preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Man City):
Manchester City are the lest famous of the two major clubs based in Manchester. The club was founded in 1880, but they have been struggling in the English Premier League in the past. Nonetheless, ever since the club was purchased by Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, the Citizens have been playing an important role in the English top flight.
Manchester City won two Premier League trophies under Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini (2011/2012 and 2013/2014), but both managers eventually paid the price for some disappointing results. Man City play their home games at the Etihad Stadium and the stadium capacity is 55,097.
Manchester United are regarded as Manchester City’s biggest rivals and the likes of Kun Aguero, Carlos Tevez, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Uwe Rosler, Yaya Toure, Sylvain Distin are some of the most remarkable players that played for the Etihad Stadium outfit. Manchester City have won four Premier League titles and five FA Cup trophies and it has to be noted that they made it to the Champions League semis in the 2015/2016 season.
