Our prediction for this Championship match:
Stoke City and Birmingham City face each other at bet365 Stadium in what is expected to be one of the most exciting games of Saturday’s program. The Potters have been scoring goals for fun of late, and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play against Birmingham. January signing Josh Maja, who opened his goal-scoring account in a 2-2 draw with Nottingham, should keep his place in the starting XI, while all Campbell, Sima, Vrancic, Sawyers, and Souttar should miss out with injuries.
The Blues, on the other hand, quickly bounced back from a 3-1 loss to Bournemouth, with the team rolling over Luton 3-0 in front of home fans. However, Birmingham too often struggle on the travels, and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Stoke City’s party at bet365 Stadium. The likes of Taylor Richards, Matija Sarkic, Troy Deeney, and Adan George remain in the recovery room, speaking of the away side.
Highlighted Player (Steven Fletcher):
Steven Fletcher is a professional footballer who plays for Sheffield Wednesday. After ending his loan spell with Marseille, he joined the Owls on a free transfer in July 2016. Steven Fletcher was born in Shrewsbury, England on 26 March, 1987 and he began his youth career at Hibernian.
He made his debut for the Scottish outfit on 10 April, 2004 in a 3-0 win over Kilmarnock. After spending three years at Burnley and Wolverhampton Fletcher signed a four-year deal with Sunderland for a fee of £12 million. The left-footed attacker scored 11 goals in 28 appearances for the Black Cats in the 2012/2013 Premier League campaign and he was struggling in front of goal in the 2013/2014 season, scoring no more than three league goals.
Steven Fletcher was eligible to play for both England and Scotland, but he decided to represent his mother’s home country. Fletcher made his Scotland debut in March 2008, in a friendly against Croatia. He did well to provide an assist for Kenny Miller, who scored the equaliser for the Scotts (1-1).
Highlighted Team (Birmingham City):
Birmingham City are a club located in the city of Birmingham, England. Birmingham City were founded in 1875 as Small Heath Alliance, but the club’s named was changed to Small Heath in 1888. 17 years later they became Birmingham and in 1943 they finally changed their name to Birmingham City.
The Blues welcome their rivals at St. Andrew’s, the stadium that was opened in 1906. Birmingham City compete in the Championship and their fiercest rivals are WBA and Aston Villa. The Blues made it to the FA Cup final twice, but they have yet to win the prestigious trophy. In 1931 they were beaten by their local rivals WBA in the title game (1-2), whilst in 1956 they were outplayed by Manchester City in the title game.
The colour of Birmingham’s home kit is blue with white stripe. Trevor Francis, Gil Merrick, Bob Latchford, Jeff Hall, Alex Govan, Joe Bradford and Christophe Dugarry are notable footballers who played for the St. Andrew’s outfit in the past.
