Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Leganes and Girona face each other at Estadio Municipal de Butarque on day 29 of the 2021/2022 Segunda Division campaign. The capital club failed to impress in the first half of the season, but they have found their best form of late. Leganes aim to build on back-to-back wins over Zaragoza (2-1) and Amorebieta (3-1), and a triumph over Girona will see them keep their playoffs hopes alive.
Panama international Yoel Barcenas is pushing for a rare start after scoring as a substitute in the last league match. The Catalan outfit, on the other hand, aim to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Eibar. Since both sides are likely to go for a win in Sunday’s showdown, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. Veteran striker Cristian Stuani should keep his place up front despite failing to find the net in the last league fixture.
Highlighted Player (Recio):
Recio is a Spanish footballer who was born in Malaga on January 11, 1991. Recio is a product of his home-town club Malaga and he has been playing for los Boquerones at senior level since 2010. The right-footed midfielder spent the 2013/2014 La Liga season on loan at Granada and he returned to Malaga at the end of the campaign.
It has to be noted that he scored four goals in 45 appearances for los Granadinos in the Spanish top flight. Recio made only 18 appearances for Malaga in La Liga in the 2016/2017 season, scoring three goals in the process, while providing two assists for his teammates.
Speaking of his international career, the midfielder made his debut with Spain U21 team on March 24, 2011 in a friendly against France. To make things even better for him, Recio represented Spain at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia later that year, making four appearances for La Roja at the showpiece tournament. Recio’s main position is central midfield, but he is capable of playing a defensive midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Girona):
After several unsuccessful attempts, finally secured promotion to Primera Division at the end of the 2016/2017 season. The Catalan outfit finished the campaign in second place in the standings, 14 points behind Levante and only two clear of third-placed Getafe. Girona play their home games at Montilivi and the capacity of the venue is 9.286.
Speaking of the club history, Girona were founded in the café Norat in La Rambla of Girona on July 23, 1930 and they played their first official game against Colonia Artigas. A number of Spanish coaches were in charge of the team in the past, but it has to be noted that Uruguayan tactician Dagoberto Moll (1965/1966) and Karoly Plattko (1948/1949) of Hungary were in charge of the club as well.
The Catalan team wear white shirts with red stripes when playing at home, while the colour of their shorts is blue. The team’s away kits are blue and black and Sporting Gijon are considered one of Girona’s fiercest rivals.
