Valladolid
All eyes will be on Estadio La Rosaleda when Malaga and Real Valladolid take on each other in a highly-anticipated La Liga 2 game. Los Boquerones failed to win the previous four league matches, with the team dropping to the danger zone. Malaga aim to put an end to their three-game losing run, but they will have a mountain to climb in Saturday’s showdown. Both Jairo Sampeiro and Juande Rivas are out of contention with injuries for the home team.
La Pucela, on the other hand, aim to build on back-to-back wins over Alcorcon and Lugo. Real Valladolid have found their best form of late, and given Malaga’s poor form, away win should be considered. Both Oscar Plano and Hugo Vallejo are sidelined with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the away team. In the first half of the season the two teams played out a 1-1 draw at Jose Zorilla.
Highlighted Player (David Lomban):
David Lomban was born in Aviles, Asturias on 5 June, 1987 and he began his senior career at Valencia. The 185-cm-tall defender played 37 matches for Valencia B and he made no more than three appearances for the first team. After spending the 2009/2010 season on loan at Salamanca, he joined Xerez in 2010 and two years later he signed for Barcelona B.
David Lomban played just one season for the Catalan outfit in Segunda Division and then he decided to take a bigger step towards a brighter future as he joined La Liga side Elche. After making 62 appearances for the club, he signed a three-year contract with Granada on 10 August, 2015. Lomban played 31 games for los Granadinos in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign, but he failed to find the net for the Andalusian outfit in the top flight.
David Lomban’s contract with Granada expires on 30 June, 2018. Speaking of his international career, the Granada defender has 11 caps for Spain U17 and he played one match for Spain U20 team as well.

Real Valladolid is a Spanish club based in Valladolid, the part of the autonomous community of Castille and Leon. Founded in 1928, Real Valladolid play their home matches at Jose Zorilla, the venue that has the capacity 26,512. La Pucela have yet to win the La Liga title, but it is important to note that they finished fourth at the end of the 1962/1963 season.
Real Valladolid made it to the Spanish Cup final on two occasions (1949/1950, 1988/1989). In 1984 they won Copa de la Liga (League Cup), which is considered the team’s biggest success. Speaking of their European records, Real Valladolid participated in the 1989/1990 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup quarter-finals.
La Pucela are well known for their purple and white shirts, but they are known for some top-class footballers as well. The likes of Diego Costa, Cuauhtemoc Blanco, Borja Fernandez, Rene Higuita, Luis Garcia and Aritz Aduriz played for Real Valladolid in the past.
