Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Wycombe and Port Vale, the two mid-table sides, face each other at Adams Park in what is expected to be a close League One encounter. The Chairboys head into Tuesday’s clash following a 1-1 draw with Morecambe, with the team eyeing their fourth home win of the process. Sam Vokes should continue to lead the line for the hosts as head coach Gareth Ainsworth is unlikely to make changes to the team that shared the spoils with the Shrimps.
The Valiants, on the other hand, did well to beat Lincoln at home thanks to Daniel Butterworth’s goal, but seeing that both Garrity and Worrall limped off with injury at the weekend, home win should be considered this time out. It has to be noted that Port Vale have suffered three defeats on the road so far this term.
Highlighted Player (Jason McCarthy):
Jason McCarthy is a product of the famous Southampton youth academy. McCarthy started his youth career in his hometown club back in 2002 and he made his senior debut with the Saints in the Premier League on December 26, 2014, coming as a substitute for Nathaniel Clyne in a 3-1 away victory at Crystal Palace.
After spending a couple of seasons on loan at Wycombe Wanderers and Walsall, the English defender signed a three-year deal with Barnsley in the summer of 2017 for an undisclosed fee. Jason McCarthy was struggling to secure a first-team football at the Oakwell stadium outfit and, as a result, he returned to Wycombe Wanderers on August 9, 2018, penning a three-year contract with the League One side.
His preferred foot is right, his main position centre-back, but he is used as a right-back as well. Jason McCarthy was born in Southampton on November 7, 1995.
Highlighted Team (Port Vale):
Nicknamed the Valiants, Port Vale are a professional club that compete in the League Two. Port Vale welcome their rivals at Vale Park, and they wear white and black kit when playing in front of home fans. Yellow, on the other hand, is the dominant colour of their away kit.
The Valiants’ home ground, which was built in 1950, can hold up to 49,768 people. Championship side Stoke City are seen as one of the club’s fiercest rivals, but their rivalry is pretty healthy. The two teams first met on December 2, 1882, with the Potters emerging triumphant (1-0).
The Valiants maintain a rivalry with fellow League 2 club Crewe Alexandra as well. Speaking of the club’s titles, it has to be noted that Port Vale have won Football League Trophy on two occasions (1993, 2001). A 9-1 win over Chesterfield from September 24, 1932 is the club’s biggest triumph.
