Our prediction for this Europa Conference League match:
Fiorentina will look to seal their spot in the Conference League semis when they take on Lech Poznan on Thursday afternoon. The Viola proved their worth in a 4-1 win at Stadion Miejski, and, as a result, they are with one foot in the next round. Midfielder Jonathan Ikone, who scored as a substitute in the first leg, is pushing for a start, while goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu remains in the recovery room. Serbia striker Luka Jovic is widely expected to lead the line for the Serie A outfit this time out.
The Poles, on the other hand, will have a mountain to climb in the reverse fixture as Fiorentina are a real force to be reckoned with at home. Anyhow, David faces Goliath in Florence, meaning that anything but a routine home win would be a big surprise. Lech midfielder Jesper Karlstrom limped off with injury in a 1-1 draw with Legia, with Nika Kvekvskiri likely to step up.
Highlighted Player (Christian Kouame):
Christian Kouame is an Ivory Coast international who has been playing for Serie A side Genoa since 2018. Kouame started his youth career at Prato and after ending his loan spells with the likes of Sassuolo and Inter, he returned to Stadio Lungobisenzio.
The 185-cm-tall forward made his professional debut with Prato on September 6, 2015 in a 2-1 loss to Pisa. Christian Kouame started the match, but he was replaced by Alberto Aladje after 66 minutes. The Genoa attacker, though, has yet to earn a call-up for the Ivory Coast national team. He has two caps for the Ivory Coast U23 team, but he is still eyeing his senior team debut.
His main position is centre-forward, but he is used as both left and right winger as well. The Genoa footballer was born in Abijan on December 6, 1997 and he has a contract with the Rossoblu until June 30, 2023.
Highlighted Team (Lech Poznan):
Founded on March 19, 1922, Lech Poznan are a Polish club that compete in Ekstraklasa. The Kolejorz (the Railwayman) made their debut in the Polish elite division in 1948, with the team recording a 4-3 win over Widzew Lodz.
Lech play home matches in blue jerseys and white shorts, while white is the dominant colour of their away kit. Stadion Miejski is the club’s home ground. Opened on August 23, 1980, the venue can hold up to 43,269 spectators. Lech Poznan won their first domestic championship in the 1982/83 season, with the team defending the trophy the following season. In the 2014/15 Lech clinched their last (seventh) league title.
The Kolejorz made their debut in the Champions League (former European Cup) in the 1983/84 season, with the team suffering elimination to Athletic Bilbao (2-4 on agg). Legia Warsaw are regarded as the club’s biggest rivals, with the two teams facing each other in the Derby of Poland.
