Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Strasbourg will be aiming to secure the Ligue 1 survival when they take on Troyes at Stade de l’Aube on Sunday afternoon. Le Racing have been producing splendid displays in the season finale and they must be high on confidence following back-to-back wins over Nantes and Nice. A man to watch in the away team will be in-form attacker Habib Diallo, who scored a brace in a 2-0 win over Nice, while all Eduard Sobol, Thomas Delaine, and Eiji Kawashima remain in the recovery room.
Troyes, on the other hand, failed to avoid relegation to Ligue 2 and given their shaky defence, we predict that the visitors are going to emerge triumphant in Sunday’s clash. Mama Balde misses out through suspension, while fellow forwards Ike Ugbo and Renaud Ripart are out of contention with injuries. In the first half of the season Troyes defeated Strasbourg 3-2, meaning that the visitors are hungry for revenge.
Highlighted Player (Habib Diallo):
The Senegalese forward started his football journey at Generation Foot in Darkar before leaving Senegal to join French club FC Metz in 2013. At Metz, Diallo spent his initial two years developing and playing for the reserves. He made his professional debut on the 1st of August, 2015, in Metz's 0-0 draw with RC Lens.
Later in the season, he scored his first professional goal, which came in a 2-1 away loss to Nimes Olympique on the 22nd of February, 2016. Diallo went on to make over 80 appearances for Metz before leaving the club in 2017 to join Brest on an initial one month loan, which later extended to become a season-long loan.
At the end of the 17/18 season, Diallo returned to Metz and has featured for them since. On the International forefront, the 6ft striker who is known for his heading and physicality made his debut for Senegal on the 17th of November, 2018, in an African Cup of Nations qualifier game against Equatorial Guinea.
Highlighted Team (Strasbourg):
Founded back in 1906, Strasbourg is a professional football team that compete in French Ligue 1. Le Racing did remarkably well to win the 1979 Ligue 1 trophy and that is considered the biggest success in the history of the club. Strasbourg won Coupe de France on three occasions (1951, 1966, 2001) and they have three Coupe de la Ligue trophies as well (1964, 1997, 2005). Strasbourg’s main rivals are Metz and the two teams face each other in the Derby de l’Est (The Eastern derby).
Le Racing recorded their biggest victory over Valenciennes (10-0) in the 1937-1938 season, whilst they suffered their biggest loss to Limoges (0-8) in the 1959/1960 season. Paraguayan goalkeeper Jose Luis Chilavert, who is well known for his free-kick abilities, played for the club from 2000 to 2003, but he failed to score in a league match during his spell with the Stade de la Meinau outfit. Speaking of Stade de la Meinau, Strasbourg’s home ground was opened back in 1914 and the capacity of the venue is 29,320.
