Colombia
There will be fireworks when Chile and Colombia square off against each other in a highly-anticipated World Cup qualifier. La Roja aim to bounce back from a 3-1 loss to Uruguay, but they face yet another difficult task against los Cafeteros. Experienced midfielder Arturo Vidal is pushing for a start after scoring as a substitute against La Celeste, while Alexis Sanchez has been left out of the squad.
Colombia, on the other hand, kicked off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Venezuela and given Chile’s shaky defence, away triumph should be considered. There are no fresh injury worries in the visiting team, but Jorge Carrascal should sneak into the starting XI. Experienced winger Juan Cuadrado is widely expected to drop to the bench following his under-par performance in the opener. In their last meeting in a competitive match Colombia defeated Chile 3-1.
Highlighted Player (Duvan Zapata):
Duvan Zapata was born in Cali, Colombia on 1 April, 1991. The 186-cm-tall attacker started his youth career at America de Cali, playing for the club between 2004 and 2008. In 2008 he made his debut for the first team and three years later he scored his first hat-trick for the Colombian outfit, in a 3-2 win over Deportivo Pereira.
In 2011 he signed a loan deal with Estudiantes and he found the net for the Argentine team on his debut against Belgrano. After scoring 11 goals in 37 appearances for Estudiantes, the Colombian striker joined Napoli in 2013, but he failed to establish himself as a first-choice attacker.
On 22 July, 2015 Zapata joined fellow Serie A team Udinese on loan and it has to be noted that he scored eight goals in 24 league appearances for the Zebrette. Duvan Zapata has 5 caps for Colombia U20 team, but he has yet to make his debut for the senior side.

The Chilean Football Federation has been established in 1895 while Chile’s first-ever international game was a 3-1 loss to Argentina in 1910. The two countries formed a remarkable rivalry over the years and it was exactly against Argentina that Chile won their last major trophy – a 2015 Copa America title.
Prior to their 2015 title Chile had been runners-up in the competition on four different occasions. Chile triumphed in a dramatic final on penalty kicks to reach their first tournament championship. In a symbolic turn of events, Chile start their 2016 Copa America Centenario with a rematch against Argentina. The most capped player of the Chile national team is Barcelona goalkeeper who has past his 100-match mark with the squad he has been a part of since 2004.
Former Lazio and Juventus striker, the legendary Marcelo Salas is the leading scorer with 37 goals to his name. Key player to the current set up is Arsenal winger Alexis Sanchez who has been the team’s leader on the pitch since 2006.
