Our prediction for this Europa Conference League match:
Lille will look to make a flying start to their Conference League group stages campaign in style when they take on Olimpija Ljubljana at Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Wednesday afternoon. Les Dogues are seen as hot favourites to win this match, but the Slovenians should not be written off just yet. There are no fresh injury worries in the home team, while Alexsandro is back from the domestic ban. All Bentaleb, Djalo, and Ounas should miss out with injuries.
Olimpija, on the other hand, did well to beat Maribor in the Slovenia Prva Liga derby at the weekend, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry against the Ligue 1 outfit. Since Lille have turned their Stade Pierre-Mauroy into a real fortress, we predict that the visitors are going to return to Ljubljana empty-handed. It has to be noted that the two teams meet for the first time in the Conference League.
Highlighted Player (Benjamin André):
Benjamin Andre is a French footballer, who began his career at Stade Raphaelois youth team. At the age of 16 Andre moved to Ajaccio and he played for the first team from 2008 to 2014. The right-footed midfielder scored 12 goals in 187 appearances in the league for the Corsican team and in the summer of 2014 he moved to fellow French club Rennes.
Andre scored his first goal for les Rouges et Noirs on January 25, 2015, in a 4-1 defeat to Caen. The French player made provided three assists for his teammates in 36 appearances for Rennes in the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 campaign and the club chiefs decided to extend his contract in June, 2017. His deal with the Roazhon Park outfit should expire on June 30, 2022.
Benjamin Andre, who was born in Nice on August 3, 1990, has seven caps for France U21 team. The Rennes footballer plays as a central midfielder, but he is often used as both left and right midfielder.
Highlighted Team (Lille):
Lille have been playing an important role in French football ever since they were founded in 1944. Les Dogues won their first domestic trophy in the 1945/1946 season.
Lille did well to win their second Ligue 1 title in 1954 and 57 years later they lifted their last domestic title. Les Douges finished the 2010/2011 season in top position in the standings, eight points clear of second-placed Olympique Marseille and it has to be noted that Lille attacker Moussa Sow won the Golden Boot (25 goals).
Lille are one of the two teams that managed to win three consecutive Coupe de France trophies (1946, 1947, 1948), but they have yet to clinch the Coupe de la Ligue title. Les Dogues faced PSG in the 2015/2016 Coupe de la Ligue trophy, but les Parisiens proved to be a big catch for Frederic Antonetti’s team in the title game.
Lille play their home matches at Stade Pierre-Mauroy and the capacity of the stadium is 50.186. The venue was opened in August, 2017 and the construction cost €282 million.
