There will be fireworks when Sutton and Tranmere face each other in the relegation six-pointer at VBS Community Stadium. Sutton are stuck at the bottom of the table with only 11 points on their account, but their fine displays in matches against Bradford City (2-1) and Colchester (1-1) are surely fuelling fans with optimism ahead of the visit of Tranmere. There are no fresh injury concerns in the home team ahead of Saturday’s encounter.
The Super Whites, on the other hand, desperately needed a win against Forest Green and they managed to get one in style (3-0). Tranmere were founded back in 1884 under the name of Belmont FC, with the football arms of cricket clubs Lyndhurst Wanderers and Belmont coming together. The club recorded their first win later in 1884 as they outclassed Brunswick Rovers 4-0.
Nowadays Tranmere Rovers play their home games at Prenton Park, the venue which can hold up to 15,567 people. The Rovers wear white shirts and blue shorts in home matches, but back in the 19th century orange and red were the dominating colours on their kit.
