Our prediction for this Bundesliga match:
Following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Koln, Bayern Munich will look to put an extra pressure on league leaders Bayer Leverkusen when they take on Union Berlin on Matchday 13. The Bavarians continue relying on in-form striker Harry Kane, who is likely to prove a handful for the opposition back-line. Even though both Matthijs de Ligt and Jamal Musiala are likely to miss the game with injuries, home win should be considered as Union Berlin are having a first half of the season to forget.
The capital club have collected only seven points in total this season and given their difficulties on the road, we predict that the reigning champions are going to emerge triumphant in Saturday’s clash. Rani Khedira is back from suspension, while both Sheraldo Becker and Danilho Doekhi remain in the treatment room. Towering defender Leonardo Bonucci is yet another absentee in the away team.
Highlighted Player (Harry Kane):
Widely regarded as one of England’s best strikers at the moment, Harry Kane enjoyed a meteoric rise at Tottenham Hotspur, scoring 21 Premier League goals during the 2014/2015 campaign to be voted PFA Young Player of the Year.
The highly rated striker went on to surpass that achievement the following season as he helped Tottenham Hotspur mount a serious title challenge for the first time in club’s recent history and he made seamless transition to international football. Kane scored four goals in his first ten appearances for England to prove he was here to stay and at the same time established himself as a first choice striker in Roy Hodgson’s squad ahead of the Euro 2016 finals.
Kane is a modern striker, who is extremely dangerous in the opposition box, but it was some outstanding goals from distance as well as link-up play with teammates that earned him an excellent reputation in world football. Kane is expected to lead both Tottenham and England in years to come, that is if he can resist the lure of top European clubs that continue to cast admiring glances his way.
Highlighted Team (Union Berlin):
Union Berlin are a German football club originally founded back in 1906. Die Eisernen play home games at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei which can hold up to 22,012 spectators. Union Berlin’s home kit is red, with the team wearing white shirts and white shorts on the travels.
Union Berlin finished the 1923 domestic campaign as runners-up, with the team suffering a 3-0 loss to Hamburger SV in the title game. Speaking of the club’s biggest success in the German Cup, die Eisernen made it to the final of the competition in the 2000/2001 season. Schalke, though, proved to be a big catch for Union Berlin in the decider, with Jorg Bohme scoring a brace for die Knappen (2-0).
Union Berlin will face their local rivals Hertha in the 2019/2020 Bundesliga season as they secured promotion to the German top flight, but Hansa Rostock are considered the club’s main rivals.
